Beautiful work as ever Tom, how many Cult members have you got left to paint?

Lovely work Tom. What a great accompaniment to his brother hybrid. The blues and pinks just kind of flow into one another.

2 down... like 30 to go lol
When I am done with one of each gen I will batch out the others all at once, a little bit quicker. Theoretically.

Thanks Gits! Hopefully I will have a smooth progression from the charcoal/indigo to a blueish bone by the third gen, and purple magenta down to slightly purple regular skin by 4th!

I think the amount of time taken to get them done is irrelevant given your exceptional results as this level is miniature painting as art.

OH-I Wanna get out of here

Looks great. Almost in the style we see from the Balchitsu style guys like PDF, though I think part of that is coming from the rusty base. Do you have a shot of him next to an older SH stealer?

Not yet, I will take a shot next to an SH stealer, and also an orginal SH stealer I painted when I was a kid... now that will be a difference lol -

Every time I see stuff you've painted MT, I die a little inside.

Great to see you doing some more Genestealer Cultist stuff though.

It's amazing how little the purestrain sculpt has changed over the last 25 years, a truly enduring sculpt

Thanks ver much guys, very kind

@nathatniel - in fairness, the ones in dwok are 'classic' style with the exposed flesh ribbing on the back, so yes very close indeed. Still have feet instead of hooves, and the new style rending claws though, so right in the middle. I much prefer these ones to the newer ones as the closed up backs really cut down the color blocking and available contrasts. Plus im old so classic is also better because of that too I think lol!

Very lovely stuff Tom! I agree about the older models as well, I'm also somewhat older so any models from my childhood are better. Still have a bunch of unpainted models from the original space hulk box better get on that...someday. Cheers.

He, if those original SH aren't painted yet, something tells me it may be another 25 years before they see the light of day

It's fun to see them for nostalgia, but at this point the terminators and hybrids are terrible from the first gen release... purestrains are still kinda passable imho but that is handicapped by the monopose nature...

That being said, I have an old seated patriarch that will someday get some lurve and attention.. .

I agree Tom, those oldSH termies are super sad. The genestealers are burnin though. And so are the tyranid Warriors.

Oh man yeah... the original warriors were awesome, I still miss them. I with Nids had a bit more variety to their morphology, I miss the time when not everything looked like a gaunt bloated in some way or other. Some nids should look quite difference imho, while retaining some common traits, while the design overall is the opposite, they all look mostly the same, with some minor differences (scale obviously not so minor sometimes).

Now for something completely different but on the same topic, decided to add to my toolbox and start learning z-brush properly -

1st lesson was a head from a sphere, so, decided to stick with my current project theme lol -

Ear should move back if human analogue placement to behind the jaw, but overall not bad for a first go!

Very cool, and you can really see the lineage in that head as compared to most GW sculpts. That face has got personality!

Another step, fixed the ear placement, adjusted some proportions and bulked out some parts, started painting it... next step will be to add some subtle texture to the skin -

And, I can't leave well enough alone so- had to get that proboscis out! This guy is now done, one day I will print a lifesize bust lol -

Pretty thrilled with my first try! Perfect program to leverage both my 3D experience in Maya and Mini painting knowledge... loved it!

The blending on that Aberrant is flawless! I've got my own in progress right in front of me and, while I can't hope to approach what you've done, it's inspiring nonetheless. Hope the rest of the Cult continues to come along!

Very cool head Tom. The chin seems a little odd to me, it's prominence seems to compete too much with the tongue, but I understand why it looks like that (biologically speaking).

Beautiful work across these genestealers - both the miniatures as well as the amazing 3-d model you've created.

Two things Tom, firstly I really love the way you paint! it's just beautiful and i'd like to learn more about your style one day if you have time? I feel it could offset my own work to make some things just look that bit different and really pop as models.

secondly, those heads are phenomenal and seeing them I just wanted to paint! so I'm saying that's a win in my books!

@Nerdfest, that's a very high compliment sir, I really appreciate that

For the the record you or anyone can ask me anything anytime about painting and whatever and if I can I will help, gotta pass on the kharma! I am not a top tier painter but I do know a lot about the theory and technique, so I feel confident to answer most anything if you want to know. It would be my pleasure, ask away-
