Not sure they really need to beat them. Fluff has it that the Tyranids hive mind is actually controlled the the 4th C'tan, The Outsider.

Clearly, a blurry version of that was shared here a few weeks back.

Decent model...looks like a complex build.

On one hand: I think the model is absolutely gorgeous.
On the other: Aren't Tomb Stalkers supposed to be the Necron equivalent to titans?

I'm worried that it looks a bit flimsy.

Anyway, it looks like the promise I made to myself to never buy from Forgeworld is starting to wear thin...

No....just.....just no.

I can't even begin to describe how way off that is... Seriously. A C'Tan, a creature to whom the Warp is anathema, is controlling a species very much noted for it's psychic based gestalt consciousness....

The nids avoided that sphere thing in space because for Nids, fighting Necrons is pointless. Your troops get disintegrated, his troops are not genetic based, ergo the usual massive losses incurred by a Hive Fleet attacking a world cannot be replaced, and no new DNA is harvested, preventing them from attacking. Net, logical result? 'Sod it, we'll try the next one'

That was always my reasoning, why attack a heavily defended 'tomb' world for no gain.

Except for the whole thing about `Nids presence creates a Shadow in the Warp, a large dead zone where psykers lose contact with it. That would seem quite beneficial to a creature to whom the warp is anathema.

Except that it's not a deadzone, it's untold billions of Tyranids communicating in a psychic network. The psychic noise created by the Hive Fleets drives psykers and psychic potentials mad with fear.

I'll also raise the point that the Warp is anathema to everything in the Materium.

Nids "Shadow" effect is like trying to concentrate or have a conversation while being surrounded by concert speakers each blasting a different type of heavy metal / rock music, riding a rollercoaster, with a zillion strobe lights and flashbulbs going off in your face. It's completely overwhelming to any psyker, but at a far deeper, more intense level than regular senses and totally impossible for them to do anything at all.

Taken from warhammer40k.wikia.com:

"Since the the recent invasion of the galaxy by the Hive Fleets of the Tyranids, it has been speculated by some in the Inquisition that the Outsider is behind the Tyranids' arrival in the Milky Way. He may be the driving force behind the unified Tyranid Hive Mind, as he seeks to destroy the galaxy's defenders with the living weapon that is the Tyranid species. If he is the Tyranids' ultimate master, then there may be no stopping the Tyranids from consuming the Imperium of Man and all who would oppose the C'tan. The Necrons will fully awaken and shall once more harvest all life in the galaxy."

Problem is 40k fluff is constantly being rewritten so what may have held true in books past, doesn't mean it'll hold true in current storyline.

Even the Necron Codex mentions the fact that the Tyranid will avoid Necron worlds like the plague. As stated, nothing to gain, just pure losses. The C'tan are gods in "reality" and not in the warp.

From what I remember, first time buying resin model, I have to scrub and wash the parts with soap and water to clean off some kind of coating then use a special kind of super glue. Am I missing anything?

Actually its also mentioned in the Necron Codex, page 11. They mention that the Tyranids seem to avoid some worlds while attacking other...since it says they allow the worlds to survive it would seem they mean living worlds not dead tomb worlds.

A tomb world can be anything. It could be a ball of rock or a jungle paradise. Sleeping away for millions of years and you let the garden go nuts, plants regrow or maybe settlers colonize the world etc etc it's still the fact of the matter this idea was contrived on the internet through snippets of information on something obscure someone wanted to know more about.

No its contrived by information in the Necron Codex and supported by the location of the Outsider and the origins of the Tyranids.

And maybe to start necrons also.

With the galaxy as large as it is the odds of the average guardsmen seeing and fighting a marine or MEQ are relatively slim. Unfortunately the guardsmen in your (and anyone else who plays IG's) army are the REALLY, REALLY LUCKY ones that fight marines ALL the time...

Contrived is the right word, because the Necron Codex indicates that the Outsider is located in a Dyson sphere on the outskirts of the galaxy. It's the usual over-enthusiastic fans trying to tie everything together in a single neat package where the Emperor comes back to life and saves the galaxy. Yes, the Outside seems to have left the galaxy. Yes, the Tyranids are extra-galactic in origin. No, being outside the galaxy does not make the Outsider into the Hive Mind except in the fevered imaginations of those who can't tell the difference between a strong argument and a valid argument.

Hell, when I saw that image at the back of the codex with the tyranid fleet moving around the object, I thought it was some sort of planet entirely of metal. Then I read the Space Marine codex talking about a world engine and got all excited. Now I know it's just the Outsider, which makes me sad but now contemplating how people jumped to 'OMG OUTSIDER=TYRANIDS!!!!' I just don't see the logic.
