It's not the responsibility of everyone else to accept everything you like. It's your responsibility to not let getting picked on effect you to the extent that it did.
There is a specific difference between the guy on the side, and a store employee doing it however. Not to mention using potential slurs against a specific community.
That is the crux of an issue. Some player mocking you? Toughen up, an employee however? Bit of a difference.

If the employees feel your horse fetish is negatively impacting the "serious business" that is wargaming, they can mock you all they want.
Game stores (and comic book stores, and similar geek venues) are pretty lax on what passes as professionalism among their employees.

Oh I agree that the employee should have been fired if it happened the way that it did. I'm all for employees and customers developing a relationship where they are comfortable in mocking each other, but in this case it is clearly over the line. This is just bad business.
But, whether it is an employee or not you should still understand what people are going to be saying to you. As much as I would like for an employee to be able to shut off their personal thoughts while working, it is not going to happen. So when the OP stormed out, it wasn't the best way to handle the situation. The OP's dialogue didn't mention that he asked them to stop. Which is a problem. Simply act calm cool and collected. If they don't stop after asking a time or two, then privately speak to the manager.
There is also a big difference between the way people should act and the way they actually do.

Are you kidding?
I don't care how lax a workplace is on professionalism, flat-out insulting a customer is well beyond the line. People can be bigoted in their own time, but they certainly are not to be allowed to push their own (insecure) opinions on to paying customers, especially when it might be detrimentally affecting the business. If you go to a game store employee and show him a freshly painted model and he replies along the lines of "Wow, son, you can't paint worth for gak." then that employee should be fired.

Well, at my brother's birthday party, one of his friends who knows I'm gay told one of his other friends who didn't know I'm gay, plus a room full of my brother's friends, that I was gay. The conversation had steered to homosexuality, and I had stayed silent, until I was asked for confirmation. I simply replied in the affirmative, at which point he said he had to get something out of his system, and after that he''d be done, and then proceeded to say loudly - but not quite yell, "Got to hell, you fairy!" And then the conversation moved on.
I didn't bring homosexuality up, I didn't offer my opinion when it was brought up, I didn't speak at length about it, or at all. I simply confirmed the truth with one word.
It's not much of a stretch. I'd say that making fun of someone for the sexuality is much worse for making fun of their preferences, but the similarities are there.

Unless of course they have actual standards, you know, the things that keep them from pulling stupid and pushing off a large load of customers because they only want to adhere to a specific group. Sure some emplacements will do this, but most won't, because of actual employee standards, and should someone higher up on the chain find out (As in regional manager), it's likely that store will be reprimanded.
Not to mention that first reason is a cry of horrible reasoning.

Chicken Little much? Read the OP, one of the employees said he didn't appreciate the OP pushing a little girls show down their throats in a wargame store populated by adults. Then a random player in the room made an Obsma-Biden reference (that I don't get), and the OP stormed off in a rage.

Did you just equate homosexuality with bestiality? You're really not helping your argument.

Did you just associate a fandom with Bestiality?

Hmm, painting a specific brush over an entire fandom. I do have a small problem with it.

You seem to have a vested interest in putting down the idea of a grown adult watching cartoon shows.
Perhaps you would also like to insult me for enjoying cartoon shows as well?
I'll get you started by informing you of the cartoons I like. I watch The Simpsons, Futurama, and Family Guy on a regular basis.
And I'm pretty sure in any of those shows I could find at least 3 shots of any regular character from behind. And that's not even counting Family Guy's frequent things involving Stewie's fantasies.

Oooh defensive are we?
Feth Family guy. A classless ripoff of the Simpsons. Simpsons glory has come and gone. Futurama. *Makes a Meh gesture with his hands* Benders a bro I can watch it.
South Park and the New Beavis and Butthead are fantastic.
Mlp though? It will go the way of Invader Zim. And that day won't be coming a day too soon. Oh how I vividly remember the reaction to the hoax that mlp was going to be canceled!
