Fantastic looking stuff! The paintjobs are great and realistic, and I especially love the space hulk!

Stick with what you know best dude! :-) it'll be coherent and you can always push yourself to do new things tying in with your current models whether it's a spot colour or gem/metal/skin/wound etc.

So a bit of a weird weekend, Little H was 12 today and asked to go the FLGS to get his birthday present from me , I expected Space Wolf characters or something and ended up with the WHFB starter box set because he now likes Skaven ! feth My Hobby Life !
Managed to get a "Leman Russ" stand in from eBay however !

Also , really wanted to get a different vibe from our Storm Wolf 40K force, Drop Pods seemed the way ahead as Little H complains about not getting across the table fast enough.

So with a bit of discussion at the FLGS and a look on youtube " Cup of Joe Drop Pods" we now have some tactic testers before we have to stump up £150 in GW Drop Pods !

5 of these should do for now !

So, i wanted to do something with the Panzer IV bodies I'd stole the turrets from , and saw this Quad gun on Shapeways.

Too small ?

JJJEEEZZZZ.... how have I managed to miss so much of this blog!??! Just had my lunch break trawling through the pages of gloriously weathered tanks / scratch builds and marines... all looking VERY nice I have to add!

The "Stug" is a beaut! Those side skirts and the area where the main gun is mounted to the hull are little favourite details for me!

And I cant wait to see those drop pods really come into their own from such a simple base. Very nice use of an everyday object!

Going to go back through in more details t check out those painting techniques.... but looking lovely!


Oh..... and that quad gun on the Pannzer IV is actually looking great to me.... I think the height works well... all it needs is some kind of sensor array or a satellite targeting system and jobs a winner for me.

I'm working the weekend , but the upside of that is I had today off and hobby'd myself to death.

More work on the Panzer 40's and LandRhino's

And finished the Drop Pods, painted as fast as I possibly could , mostly airbrush and sponge, no inks or oil washes in sight !

WWWOOOWWW the lenses on that dreadnaught!! Awesome work!! and those Joe Pods really came out well!

the spaced armour on those Panzer turrets are a real favourite of mine! I tried to replicate it once on a Rhino... with mixed success... but I think the nice linear track units an the 40k gear you have with them looks neat

I think that middle tank is compensating for something.

Really nice. Really, really nice. I'm now definitely thinking about going back to my Praetorians and making some spaced armour for the turrets (like Magosbiff I too dabbled with it with mixed success).

Thanks mate , I thought for ages about how to do the turrets, eventually I just decided to buy some 1:32nd scale panzerIVs by CTS (air fix) and steal the turrets , all the other methods seemed too much like hard work !

Do it ! But save yourself the hassle and look for CTS Airfix 1:32 me scale tanks on eBay !
Lots of scope with those ! And cheap !

Progress tonight, chipping is 75% done on the Panzer40's and 50% done on the LandRhino's. I've been flitting about and doing other stuff when I get too bored.

I was rushing the chipping stage and to be honest I've gone really overboard, hopefully it won't look too 40K crazy when I'm done

I've always found it way too easy to go overboard on chipping and weathering... so you're in good company at least.

Wow! I missed so much Big H! This stuff is looking fantastic. I love your scratch builds. The stung is damned nice but I am really loving the the panzers. So much awesome in this thread.

Thanks very much Gorgrimm. The Stug does look pretty good, but I think you maybe right , the Panzer40's are shaping up very well indeed.
The credit of the build goes to OneManNoodles, he did the basic stretch build I just hung the details on them !

Small update , got some work done on the chips and applied some decals.

Wonder what you guys think of the stylised Nurgle sun wheel ? Leave it black ? Add grey or silver so it looks scratched on ? or add white or possibly red to look painted on ?

Hey thanks Bebop ! I appreciate your comments. Still some way to go yet, more chip highlights and the oil filters / pin washes / rust streaks etc.

What do you think would look good on the Nurgle symbol ?

The tanks are all looking good. I too liked the spaced armour on the turret enough to add it to my (one and only, so far) tank.

Nurgle symbol is nice. I think black is good, subtle and doesn't detract from the rest of the tank.

Thanks Dr H ! I think black is my preferred option at the moment too.

I like the stylised Nurgle logo. You don't usyally see it done up that way.

I'd love to see you tackle Eldar some day and give them some realistic military color schemes.

Thanks mate, I just combined a version of the Nurgle symbol with a stylised "swastika" sun wheel, fits nicely with my Zombie nazi Guard I think.

You know, Camo Eldar isn't a bad idea, some of those skimmers would look pretty sweet in military drab colours with maybe some red or orange spot colours !
Its on the list of stuff to do once I get the Death Guard , Dwarfs , Empire, Skaven and Space Wolves / Storm Wolves finished !

Panzer 40's FINISHED, except perhaps for some dust on top of all the other weathering, but essentially done.

I love how these turned out , two great models that painted up more or less exactly as I planned, I should have bent and dinged the side armour a bit during construction to explain all those chips but too late now !

Look good with the assault gun and infantry so all in all , happy !

That panzer looks *really good*.
