Well, that's weird. I posted in the Forgeworld OOP thread about the lastest pieces that seem to have gone. And now some of them are partially reappearing in searches again! The Corsair Conversion Set, Arvus and Tauros are sort of listed in searches and categories again. To Forgeworld - If you are watching these threads, please consider doing some sort of Made to Order style service...!

That Arcus's 40k rules are quite nasty. No cover saves and a mortal wound inflicted on a to-wound roll of 6. Not too shabby.
It's 30k rules, even more so. I like how you can equip it to deal with whatever you'll be facing. Mechanicum will be nervous facing these

(Is it a nuke? EMP? Space magic?) "Of particular note is the inclusion of the neutron-flux warhead, a Terran development dating back to the years prior to the alliance with Mars. This weapon saturates the silica stratum of the cybernetica cortex employed by Mechanicum automata with xenon, causing terminal cascade failures in these systems. Continued production of these weapons was the cause of the Mechanicum’s refusal to sanction the Arcus pattern hull." Sounds like space sci-fi magic to me. EDIT: At least the name makes some sense with the supposed material used in the munitions - some isotopes of xenon are potent neutron absorbers.

I like how the 30K rules for it explain why the Mechanicum hates the tank, but the 40K version seems to have forgotten that reason over the years.

That kind of Kryptonite rule always strikes me as bad game design: You shouldn't be list tailoring before a match, so in other words if used as intended this is an upgrade that's okayish against most opponents, but if you play against Mechanicum is a gigantic middle finger of a removal ability.

The limited range of the neutron-flux warheads gives some breathing space and the AP4ness means most automata are getting their 3+ and the thanatars are getting a 2+ save, but Vorax are totally fethed - i think it's too harsh a rule, especially since ripple fire has it firing twice when it doesn't move.
These things are clearly going to appear everywhere - my biggest criticism is that it is good at everything, it does anti-air, anti-troop, anti-tank and anti-automata for 270 pooints and does them all rather well - has it got any failings?

Am I missing something or is the Vanguard Strike ability of the Arcus completely pointless? Maybe if it increased it to Heavy 6d6, because giving up the ability to shoot Overwatch as well as shooting in the next turn just for a few extra shots seems pretty stupid.

Sometimes it's narratively preferable; if a Marine force is going up against Mechanicum, then of course the commanders would be ordering Neutron-flux warheads loaded into the launchers (and presumably the Mechanicum magi would be issuing whichever weapons are better against Marines than against Orks). Whether or not it's worth the points or should be more is a different argument.

It's 2 shooting phases in 1. Alpha strike is a thing. It allows you to reposition the following turn and not have lost out on firing. When it's nearly dead and you know it'll not last another turn you may as well go all out. The final turn of the game. It has it's uses.

Precisely this. Calling it Vanguard Strike is kind of a misnomer, as it's probably a more useful mid-end game ability, I guess "Sternguard Strike" or "Amidships Strike" didn't have the right ring to it!

Good rules writing is a type of weapon or bonus that helps against enemies in that tactical role, not specifically works against that enemy.
For example, if a unit is the bane of tyranid hordes, then it should have rules that hurt hordes, not rules that do 1 wound to an Ork and 15 wounds to Termagants.
