Here is a tutorial for making quick easy buildings with a glue gun and some cardboard. No foam required.

I solemnly swear to infest my local tables with tyranid buildings and to blot out the sun with clouds of spores.

Please try this method to make one small test spire. You will be pleasantly surprised at how quick, easy and mess free it is. Once you get the hang of the glue gun use and provided you prepare all your cardboard pieces in advance you will be able to produce one spire less than an hour.

Thank you
superscenic

That is one of the coolest tutorials ever! Now I can make a nice display board on the cheap.

Seems like a nice way to make mycetic spore pods also.

Kudos to you for a nice tutorial with a fantastic end result. It looks absolutely top-notch.

I'm not like them, but I can pretend.

Those look surprisingly good, even more so when painted. I'll have to use this to make a board for my nids.

Well I must say, I am loving the kind responses. Thank you very much guys.

This is a relatively quick and mess-free thing to do and quite therapeutic once you get a nice control happening with the glue-gun. Ideal for the slightly more relaxed modeler. I am hoping some more Tyranid structures will find their way onto tables.

Are they very durable?
Trying to think if I should try to make some to leave at the FLGS, or whether they are capable of regular lax transportation.

Its up to you what thickness you want to use. Card from cereal boxes should be sturdy enough in my opinion.

I'm glad that I have a hot glue gun that's thick and long enough to shoot the sticky, viscous loads to make these Tyranid buildings.

I also have plenty of experience handling my hot glue gun and have shot many loads with it when attempting to assemble other things so this should help. Thanks man.
