Do you discount shop for Warhammer and other stuff related to it?
Yes. I actually frequently discount shop
Yes. I only discount shop often
Meh, I don't really care which brand i use on my minatures as long as it works.
No. I am concerned for my minatures so i only trust GW
No. I am disgusted you use anything other than GW brand! Have you no concern for the well-being of your miniatures? I pity anyone that does use any substitute!

We all know that GW is expensive So do any of you use other products instead of the GW brand? For example, blue tac instead of Green stuff or plain super glue instead of GW plastic glue?

If so, please post here what do you discount shop on.

I use whatever superglue I find and I got 20% off all my GW and PP products at my FLGS. All my paints are citadel though. I DON'T buy GW flock, I think it's a mega rip off when you can get the same stuff in a massive bag from train store in my town centre.

TBH i only buy figures from GW or vie GW webstore. I however do buy glue and milliput from another hobby / model store. Not because its cheaper. I prefer them as an alternatve. The revell glue is dispensed by a needle which means i have less overspill on the models and use less to build with.

My FLGS doesnt stock GW products as they told me that they wont be able to compete with the local GW on prices. Anything they buy will end up more expensive as GW have the monopoly.

I don't buy anything from GW anymore - I proxy wherever possible, and for everything else I use ebay and find it second hand.

Pretty much the only thing I buy from GW is their exclusive stuff (e.g. Goblin on Giant Spider). Everything else they make is purchased or traded for online (mostly here on dakka).

As far as supplies, eff GW's prices. I'll buy superglue wherever my brand is cheapest, milliput or two part epoxy at the hobby/hardware store. Same for brushes.

Well, I do buy Citadel paints. Mostly, I think it's because I have such a pain opening the glass Testor's jars the second time...

I buy citadel paints at my FLGS, and get most of my models there (I have 20% off for frequent buying)... but I'm definitely not against Ebay! You can get some great deals there for armies, squads, NIB stuff. So I pick and choose whichever saves me more; Ebay or my shop. If the difference is just a couple bucks I always go to my game store (I get it same day!)

I get a slight discount. 10% I think it is. I could use a discount online store but I strongly belive in supporting local stores. My store is an indy retailer for GW so they sell other things but I spend a great deal of time there and they are always very very nice towards me and that goes a long way with me so I always spend my money there.

I get roughly 25% off if I order from my FLGS and even bigger "discounts" on bigger orders. Essentially on large orders I just get "free gifts" so he isn't breaking GW price rules.

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

I use testers modeling paint (mostly) combined with some Folkart brand from walmart and some generic plastic cement from the model section at hobby lobby.

I wouldn't be adverse to useing GW stuff, but someone has to open a store that sells it and is closer than the current 3 hr drive I currently have to put up with to find a store.

I also get all my models off of ebay for nice saveings.

I nearly always buy discount, usually online, sometimes I pop down to wayland games who are pretty cool. I avoid GW store for reasons other than price

GW stuff is okay quality but as you seem to realise can be bought cheaper elsewhere, and since you only need a good knife, clippers and some files when starting out a whole kit ight be excessive if you are low on moola.

I have collected a big selection on hooby tools over the last 20 years, usually one at a time as needed and very little of it is from GW. They are too expensive for what you get and when I can walk another 10 minutes past GW to the nearest model train shop, why wouldn't you?

I will say that I do have the GW mega paint set [Chrimbo present, thanks mrs notprop ], so I have brushes (pretty good IMHO) and I did by one of their hobby vices last month which I am pretty happy with [once I found a surface that it would hold on to!], but do realise that I got a plastic one for more than the price of a Draper metal one.

Also CS my understanding of what you guys pay in Aus tells me if you are paying retail in there then you are getting boned. Paying for discount from the UK [if you are okay with the delivery time] will net you 40%+ savings with curency conversions.

So if you can get that $95 set for say $50 you my think that it is worth it?

The alternative to GW green stuff isn't blue tac, it's greenstuff from other suppliers at a lower price. At least compare like for like. GW don't make greenstuff and superglue, they buy it from suppliers and stick their own logo on it. All their tools are like this, drills, cutters, knives, cutting mats and glues. So what is available in GW is exactly the same as is available elsewhere and anyone who thinks otherwise is a mug.

I buy my stuff elsewhere because it's cheaper, mostly because GW overcharge compared to the normal rate for such tools and paints.

No. I am concerned for my minatures so i only trust GW

Anyone who thinks this has both a misplaced concern and trust in GW supplying a uniquely quality product. The simple fact is that if you buy GW for the convenience of it, fair enough, but if you buy it because you think other products are inferior and will 'damage' your GW minis you are deluded and/or drinking the GW kool-aid. A lot of their products aren't the best on the marketplace in either case, you have to go around specialist suppliers for those. GW sell you decent enough stuff at a vastly inflated rate, because they are a highstreet chain shop.

The only GW STUFF I use is their models and rules. And even that isnt exclusive as I also play Malifaux and am getting back into Warmachine/Hordes.

For glues I use Testors Model Masters plastic glue. The metal tip is sweet. For super glue I use several, but none are GW.

For tools I either go to my local Harbor Freight or I go online to http://www.widgetsupply.com/

As for actual modelling and basing supplies I go to anywhere from local crafts stores to model railroad supply stores to my LGS. It all depends on what I am looking for and who has it.

The Orks are the pinnacle of creation. For them, the great struggle is won. They have evolved a society which knows no stress or angst. Who are we to judge them? We Eldar who have failed, or the Humans, on the road to ruin in their turn? And why? Because we sought answers to questions that an Ork wouldn't even bother to ask! We see a culture that is strong and despise it as crude.

I don't buy ANY GW stuff at full retail. With Aussie prices, you'd be a fool to do so if you don't have an alternative.

I don't care if it's from a UK dealer or a US dealer, or 2nd hand from a co-clubmate.

My glues come from a hobby store (I can get two bottles of Revell Contacta professional for the cost of one bottle of GW "gunge in a bottle"(tm) ) - or a bottle of Zap for the same price as the crap GW stuff.

I buy my primers from a local autoparts shop - they are cheaper and do the job well. My spraypaints come from a hardware store.

Tools also come from the same hobby store as the glues. my #1 x-acto handle is 16 years old. I buy blades for a couple of dollars a pack. My small hobby vice was from an electronics store (for holding small circuit boards for drilling).

I will save money where and when I can.
If GW forces my hand, and I have no choice BUT to order their stuff from the local source, then they can shove their games. I'll be done.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Most of my models (90%+) are from Ebay (I got about 80% off RRP for my new Eldar army - almost totally unpainted as well).

My paints come from GW (as I will often need just a single colour and can't be bothered to go and order it online from a discount retailer).

My weathering powders etc are all non-GW.

My glue is from the local pound shop (8-10 tubes for £1? Bargin! It's pretty good stuff too ).

My brushes are a mix of GW and non-GW. Again, as with the paint I get the brushes very rarely and so I just buy them from GW (I swear that the city I live in has no hobby shops at all otherwise I would buy independently for these, as they are a massive rip off and don't come in a great fange of sizes/types).

All my other modelling equipment is from hardware stores, other than my pin drill which was from GW (it was actually the cheapest one in the shop somehow).
