Heyy Guys Zepher here
so my friend plays Space Wolves and usually takes like 6 or 7 drop pods for various things!
With me playing a Blood Angel force which has Lot's of jump troops I find it difficult to formulate stratagies against this :S
Any help would be appreciated!!

Well, we'll need more information than that. What do you have, what does he have? Otherwise the only advice I can give you is to castle up and wait for him to come to you. When he does you jump to him, shoot him and assault him as he can only bring his forces in peice meal while you have your whole army to bear on him.

I've played against Drop Wolves before, and I have to say that they have the same problem that 40k Daemons do - they come onto the board in chuncks. On first turn he brings in half of his army, while you have your entire army. So when he drops in, you can easily charge 2/3 of them with 2 units each, bomb them with vindicators, wreck them by rapid firing sternguard, destroy them with a rediculous close combat character, etc and completely demolish them, while ignoring the rest.
On turn 2 another 1/4 of his army will drop in. Do the same thing.
On turn 3 the rest of his army with most likely drop in. Guess what you should do? The same thing.
You are going to have 100% of your units on the table first turn while he will only have 50%. Use it to your advantage!

I hate hard counters. In a game of rock, paper, scissors, I hate playing any of the factions because no matter what you choose you might as well not deploy against your hard counter. I want to use a gun. Rock, paper, and scissors could all probably still beat gun, but gun will never feel like a game is a lost cause. |

I play a Drop Pod army. I'm not sure how his army is made up, mine only has 4 Pods in it, but in general, stuff that comes out of Pods is slow once it's out, so anything you can bring that can run and gun will do well for you. Blood Angels actually have a lot of stuff like that, but a lot of it is vehicles, which Drop Pods can take out with Meltaguns, so you want to make his initial drop hard with bubble wrap tactics, etc.

Be careful charging space wolves. They have counterattack, and a BP/CC weapon, so they will be throwing back as many attacks as you, especially if you're only I4.

Blood Angels are I5 with their Furious Charge (Sang Priests) and have enough attacks with 2 whole units to bring down the hurt.

Berzerkers are I5 as well, but be careful that you're not just trading 2 units for one unit and letting the wolf player decide where he will retalliate in his turn.

I don't play BA, but when I play against a pod heavy force, what works for me (which I'm not saying it will work for you 100%) is to use reserves.
It takes away one of the primary reasons players use pods: to get the first strike/hit in before your forces can target them.
|
This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I'm thinking that could work! thanks!

Well a decently built blood angels unit (2 meltas, lightning claw, sang priest with lightning claw, libby with preffered enemy power or chaplain) will quite easily take out a 10 man wolf guard unit.
With the power weapons alone you will be dealing 6-9 wounds on average
