Hey all,

As some of you have noticed by my recent posts, I'm new, and I'm here. So, this post is just to formally introduce myself.

Been involved with wargaming since 1997-1998 on and off. I've mostly played WHFB with an Empire army.
Like most, my interest has waxed and waned over the years, and as such I have'nt played for quite some time.

Now that I'm older, and therefore wiser(?) I've taken a renewed interest in WH40k (As I find the new WHFB disgusting - high elf racial army attribute I'm looking at YOU!). I've read around that 40k appears to be the more 'tactical' of the two games, and I've started to agree.

Several of my friends of similar age and disposition are also keen to start up armies or return to playing them. Despite the awesome lore surrounding them, I do NOT want to play an Imperium, as every man and his dog plays them. This has led me to experiment with several armies at LGS until I decided on Tau Empire (I blame my fondness for anime/Half-Life combine look of the Tau).

Armies that my mates will most likely collect are: IG, Space Orks, Necrons, SM, CSM.

So yeah...thats about it.

Welcome my friend. I hope Dakka provides all you are looking for.

A good friend of mine plays a mean tau force (Ninja Tau) and has placed well in tourneys. If you want advice on tactics PM me and I'll find you a link to his rantings.

Thank you guys, thats what I call a welcome

While the Land Down Under is great, I curse myself for not picking up a ton of minatures back in 2001 when I was living in the UK. *SO* much cheaper over there! Hell, it was so popular I even remember the Wargaming society as a school co-curricular!

Can't wait til I become a teacher, then I'll start my own society to help the next generation of wargamers to do glorious battle

Hello and welcome to DAKKA DAKKA

Attempts by Company Commanders to call down close-ranged artillery fire can result in disastrous casualties amongst the Imperial Guard. Whilst the loss of life is regrettable, the waste of ammunition is INTOLERABLE!
