Page 107 of WD367 is an ad for Games Day 2010. Firstly noted is "Tickets are only available online!", this is the first time ever GW has not sold tickets at the door.

More importantly, further down the page... "Next year's Games Day location will be announced at the end of the event!"

This strongly implies that Games Day will in fact NOT be in Baltimore for 2011.

I thought it was agreed it would be at the new HQ that is in Memphis or close to there.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

The Memphis HQ is in the middle of an industrial park. Hopefully it will be downtown in the convention center.

Industrial parks have great parking! But you have to sleep under the bridges and may get shanked by a hobo (So honestly its on par with Baltimore)

I think they should find the absolute center of the United States (I believe that's somewhere in Missouri or Oklahoma), set up a giant tent in what will undoubtedly be a cornfield, and have it there. Then nobody can attend.

I could. Colorado is in easy driving distance of both of those.

With all honesty they should have kept it the same as the year before. By making one GD North America...they have really limited a lot of people from attending.

If they were not making a profit from the previous years...they could have at least left GD Canada and made one or two GD US (East and West Coast for instance)

But that's me ranting for not being able to attend this years GD

Now, Memphis - I might actually be able to do that.

Geometrically,it's actually in Kansas, about three hours due north of Manhattan, KS.

When you add mountains and valleys and other three dimensional stuff, it screw up, though.

Theoretically speaking, you would not want to find the geometric center, you would want to find the population center, that way the venue would be situated at the most easily accessible location for the greatest number of people... theoretically speaking of course...

That would most likely be around Chicago somewhere.

well, since it is supposed to be Gamesday North America, not Gamesday US, I think it should be in the Geographic centre of North America....

The online only tickets at the door should give them demographics. And the raw numbers will determine whether or not it is in baltimore not whether east coast, mid-atlantic, mid-west, etc. - could a cheaper venue be had with same space? Also changing geography means recruiting new clubs to provide the content...a lot of gamesday is created by local clubs. If you move geography (mid-atlantic to mid-west) that's all gone.

Hence they might even move to an 'attend' model rather than 'hold' model at Gencon, Historicon, etc...

No way man. Like most midwesterners, I can draw line of sight to anything immersed in corn. It's like a warpgate for us. Unless they decide to hold a Games Day: Tokyo, Games Day: Maize will be the only Games Day I can attend.

Gamesday Nashville, you heard it here first!

Memphis is a HELLHOLE. The only reason they got HQ is how cheap everything is. There is absolutely no support businesses around the Memphis convention center. Last time I attended an event there I walked 3 blocks to go to Subway and they were out of fething BREAD!?

No way it'll be Memphis.

While you make a good point. Games Day's of long ago were hosted solely by GW. All of the tables were provided by them and most had miniatures provided for you as well. I'm willing to bet that GW will move back to this, we've already seen the first step in The Road to Games Day blog on their site. If this is not the case I'm sure there will be plenty of local clubs and independent retailers that will jump at the chance to participate no mater where they chose.

The Big WAAAGH is thinking of tranferring to Chattanooga. Night and day from Memphadishu.
