Thanks Gits, this one took a wee bit longer due to unforeseen circumstances with time

Update: squad done - the toughest bit of this commission is to do it to a table top quality, I felt the urge to lavish tonnes of detail on to the models, but that would have changed from a week per squad to 2 weeks per squad and that wasn't what the client wanted.

Loving the assault marines, nice work!

Those squad shots are great as they show that although they are in the same army unit, there is enough differences in each model to show the individuality of each marine.

@Mad - Thats what I was going for, when you look back at each of my GK marines/squads individually the models stand on their own, in a squad its even better, then the army shot is glorious!

Update: So now that I've done the commission what now I hear you cry (truth be told I can't hear what you cry, living all the way in NZ, but a man can have an imagination) well you remember this beast?

Well it's been staring at me for the last 9 months asking to be finished, so what the hell, get on with it eh?

Because it's such a large model, I've taken to breaking it down to smaller bits, first up is the guns for the main turret, here they are with some base colours and washes done

@Mad - Exactly! what better way to ease my self back into the sea of grey to paint... a giant superheavy tank, its like napalm in the morning

Update: Metals on the guns are done, just doing some parchments and freehand to break up the large spaces

No but seriously, I want entire panels of squiggles on that tank. Make it happen Knightley! Have I mentioned how excited I am about you painting gray again? Or perhaps how nice it is to see this long lost tank finally on its way to completing its modeling journey?

I did like the blood angels but when you watch a great painter paint beneath his skills for the sake of time it does leave one a bit wanting, you know?

@Graven - Yes, yes I am fully prepared to squiggle all over this one, it'll be a squiggle explosion of squiggle love... now just realising this degenerated into quite a bit of innuendo.

@Ice - It'll be great to get this tank push done, means I can then do either an inquisitor warband push or jump into my Necrons I'll have to see what tickles my 'Fancy' if you get my drift "nudge nudge" "wink wink"

Update: finished up the guns with edge highlights and parchments, figured I'd show you a little bit of free hand to get some C&C

Looking at it now it's a little lop sided, I don't think it'll be noticed that much when the whole tank is put together though.

Nice work on the turret, I really like the details, and the parchment/scroll you have painted on freehand is great!

Does anyone else see the Millennium falcon when looking at these turret photos? It's even got satellite dish and antennas etc

What colour/type of wash are you using if i may ask?

Hey Mad. I use GW washes, for Reds, silvers, greys I use a black wash (Badab or nuln) for bone and parchment I use brown (Devlan or Aggrax) and for the bronze I used purple

Update: Small again, whites got two coats, reds got layered and highlighted and bronze got a slapping as well
