Title says it all. Who do you think is the best SC based on combat effectiveness and what they do for the army.

IMO, the best SC is Ghaz.

Combat-wise he's a warboss with a PK that ignores ID. Nuff said.

As for how he benefits the whole army, that uber Waaaghh just makes the whole army so much deadlier.

Out of all the Ic's out there ive come up with two

One for being the best fighter.
Abbadon the GameSpoiler
This guy can dish out over 10 str 8 attacks that ignore armor saves at initiative 6. hes also toughness 5 with 4 wounds and eternal warrior. a 4+ invuln and a 2+ save.

This guy is a BEAST. though he CAN hurt himself if you are unfortunate enough to roll a 1 on his attacks.

He also comes with a hefty price of 275 pts..

whats really funny is, is when hes down to 1 wound. you could possibly sacrifice him for a fully healthy greater daemon! (not to bad either, but alot more effective then a single wound abbadon)

as for a special character that helps his army

Gazzy's the best when it comes to his waaagh! but gazzgull gets assraped by abbadon any day.

(oh I get 11 attacks.. 4s to hit, 7 hits, 2 to wound... 6 wounds. take your saves... oh you died... Happened TWICE in a row)

No, I would say Deathleaper. Maybe not the best in game terms, but the rules seems really entertaining. I don't even play nids.

If my opponents don't have eternal warrior, my favorite special character is Skulltaker on a juggernaut (nids, I'm lookin at you )

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

But as an awesome team player that can still open one heck of a can of whoop-ass, the crown goes to Ghazzy

Logan Grimnar and Ragnar Blackmane have to be up here. They're a little outrageous at times.

1. Ah I'm WS1 for whatever reason? Oh well, I still hit on rerollable 3s. Also I have scoring termies (no matter how overcosted that ends up being. It's still a pain to deal with).

2. I'm so quick I can dodge any bullets or swings at me. Nevermind that the Eldar are all faster than I am, and so by the same logic should have a 3+ invuln all around for dodging quickly. Of course, I can't seem to dodge those damn psycannons (that idea just never gets old in my mind. I can dodge everything, including flamers, but I can dodge this one gun).

The nightbringer is kind of annoying to deal with as a killy character though.

I'm a fan of The Betrayer. Sure, he's not the toughest or the killy-est, but he's just got so much character.

I mean, yeah, he's very single minded, but I always got the sense that there was more going on in his head than he let on. Also, his quotes are awesomesauce.

(Abby and Typhus, individually or together, are also pretty damn cool).

I love Kharn because he never misses in CC!

Now the only question is who's gonna get hit...

ill be biased and say Karandras (if your playing against orks or nids) on the charge he can dish out 8 attacks? against bad armour saves thats good! if a power weapon is needed he does have the claw but takes him too initiave 1, hm.

Also jain zar is pretty neat, my jain zar is never not in my list when im playing against marines!

Ghazghkull Thraka.

- 7 Power Klaw attacks on the charge
- 2+/5+
- Immune to Instant death
- Waagh enhances the entire army
-When he is on the Waagh, he is simply the deadliest model in the game.
- He's an ork.

Attempts by Company Commanders to call down close-ranged artillery fire can result in disastrous casualties amongst the Imperial Guard. Whilst the loss of life is regrettable, the waste of ammunition is INTOLERABLE!

I feel the necessity to debate this. He's far to expensive to not have a power weapon. The problem is that he has the potential to die before using his fist, and against armored opponents they tend to have hidden fists who will kill him simul. Against orks they always have a hidden klaw which will kill him while he kills about 5 orks. It's also 7 attacks on the charge.

Yeah, there are a lot of SCs out there that are good at close combat, but they can all be killed by a sufficient amount of the right firepower before they have a chance to do anything. Ranking which of the many, many badass CC units are out there is worthless against opponents who know what they're doing.

No, the REAL best special character is something that affects the entire army and thus has a multiplicative goodness, rather than simply an additive one.

For this, I'm talking like Chenkov who gives every unit with a model within 12" the "stubborn" special rule and can pass out "without number" to other squads in the army, of Straken who gives everyone nearby furious charge and countercharge, or Al'Rahem which can easily allow a third of your army to outflank.

What about Asurmen? He gets an 4+ invulnerable save (like most ICs but unlike the other Phoenix Lords). His sword lets him re-roll all misses in CC and can one-hit an IC that takes a wound and fails leadership (which admittedly won't happen often). His defend power takes one attack away any attack directed at him or a squad that he's attached to. He even has a decent ranged weapon (Assault 4 Avenger Shurikan Catapults). All this with WS/BS 7 and I7, and a 2+ Armor Save.

Black Widow Assault Cadre 2000 Points (Under Renovation- Playable) Win-4 Lose-5 Draw-1
Storm Angels 1st Company 2500 Points (DA Codex) (Under Renovation - Playable) Win-3 Lose-4 Draw-3
Corsairs of Fate 1750 Points (Under Construction - Playable) Win-2 Lose-3 Draw-1
Protectorate of Menoth 11 Points (Project Delayed Indefinitely) Win-1 Lose-3 Draw-0
Imperial Guard Regiment (Unnamed) 1000 Points (Project Delayed Indefinitely)
Cygnar 25 Points (Planned) Win-0 Lose-0 Draw-0

Last Game(s): The Spearhead Annihilation Battle between my Storm Angels First Company (Dark Angels) and Skystompa's Waagghh! (Blood Angels) resulted in a MAJOR VICTORY!

He's a beast as far as combat is concerned, but he is still only S and T 4. Also he doesn't really benefit the army like say eldrad would.

While we're on that, Eldard is pretty hard to kill. High toughness (for an eldar) and a 3++, more then likely with rerolls, and a Witchblade that is a PW? And he's a damn good farseer.

I think Maugan Ra, Eldrad and logan win.

The first for his gun (near impossible to outrange & can kill anything but a mono).

The second for super support.

The third for scoring termies & living legend.
