Completely new here and to 40k.

I have an Ork battleforce box from long ago as well as some nobz/warboss/painboyz/trukk.. but it's nothing close to an army, and I just started painting/assembling what I have. No idea where I'm going with it yet. Going to try to meet up Saturday with some people here in town to try to learn how to play.

Also I still have like the 3rd edition rulebook (dont know how good this is anymore), and I need an ork codex (i have none).. so those will be what I purchase first i guess.

Hope to learn much more and have fun here.

Hey
Welcome to Dakka!
As far as learning to play, the 3rd ed book is pretty much useless now. If you dont want to shell out for the BRB you could try ebay to get the mini version from the AoBR set. Good luck, and I hope you enjoy the hobby

Thanks guys. I'll try to find the books cheap. Im a semi-broke college student so trying to save cash on this where I can.

Is it a necessity to buy the big rulebook? Do you reference it a lot or is it something I could borrow from someone for a week and learn what I need to know? Also, how much less does the mini-rulebook have then?

Welcome to Dakka!

The big rulebook only provides some more general background and modelling. It's by no means necessary.

No name on the warboss yet ;p

Still not even sure how I'm going to use him. I keep reading about how the best for a normal warboss is on a bike, so maybe I'll do that.
