Hello all, my name is the_scotsman and I'm new on the forums so I figured I might as well make an introduction post.
As for me, I am a misplaced Caledonian currently living in Boston, and I've shipped my love for 40k overseas and found a great player base in Vermont. My name is Scott and I speak with an impossible to get rid of scottish accent, so I've picked up the obvious nickname from my friends here. I'm a freshman at university, and when I have free time I like to paint minis, play 40k and Malifaux (a game I've discovered here that works as a great side game for 40k because it's about 10 times cheaper) and other assorted board games and sundry.
For armies in 40k, I originally played Space Wolves, because I found regular space marines a little too cookie cutter and they reminded me a little too much of American "Football" players. The Wolves, I thought, had a bit more of an actual fighting spirit, and for the most part didn't dress themselves in 500 pounds of gold jewelry and carry around great bloody banners on their backs. The pride and joy of my Space Marine army is an old school metal Dreadnought outfitted to be Bjorn Fell Handed, the nastiest, most expensive HQ choice in all of the Space Wolves chapter.
Recently, I picked up a bucketload of Necrons for really cheap, so I assembled and painted (astonishingly quickly) a large force of Necrons, which are a nice counterpoint to my space marines. While I find them a lot less fun to paint, I've found myself to be pretty strategically compatible with them, as maneuvering and placing infantry is something I'm quite good at, and I like not having to worry about big expensive vehicles.
Even more recently (read, two days ago) there was some kind of bagging mishap at the game store and I wound up with an Ork Big Mek rather than the Rune Priest I was originally intending to buy. I was going to return him, but... he looked so cheerful. So inviting. I had to paint him.
After that, it was only a very short matter of time before I went and spent a good deal of the college money I had left over (got a nice big scholarship, so there's a lot to throw around) on a sizably large ork force, which will probably be the subject of my first forum post.
So that's me, I look forward to being a part of this forum. I have no questions yet.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.

Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
