IMO you're better off with a LRBT or a Pred instead of the tank in the 1st link, It will look more 40k-ish. The armoured plates would be great for Orking the vehicle up though.

That APC/tank that the OP suggested looks great, but on closer observation, I think its only about 10cm long. Is this an error on my part or is it that big? I really hope its an error as I was going to buy many of these to chop up!

Your not wrong, but not totally right. That PARt is 10cm long. If you take another look youl realize that the body of that tanke is in a couple parts. Same with that "trukk" (which after seeing that, damn Im buying those lol) Infact Im almost certain a few months ago someone posted that very same thing, and someone said it was just a either a little longer, but thinner then a rhino, or a little shorter, but wider then a rhino. Those would actually make very nice Ork vehicles.
Seriously, Im buying those trukks. And at $16 bucks, thats a cool deal for a trukk. A couple bucks for some accessory sprues and Im all set

Curse you, Americans, you have access to all the cool cheap stuff. 
But yeah, those look fine, provided they're big enough for the job. If not, you may have to modify them.
