Wait what?
I'm not familiar with the story either but it would be either Tyranids or Orks.
If I remember correctly the Ad Mech sent out some scouting satellites ages ago and found traces of the Orks outside of the galaxy. Chaos needs humanity and Eldar to survive, if they kill them they just kill themselves. Necrons depend on who wins out of Orks and Tyranids as the nids would just skip them.

Well, let's see here, who's most likely to win?
We know that the Marines failed (thanks to DoW2). It can be presumed that the entire Imperium lost the campaign, as Cyrus mentions that the Kaurava campaign was "a huge mistake." So let's strike IG, Sisters and Marines from the list.
Necrons, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Chaos Space Marines, Orks and Tau remain.
Just in terms of preparedness and trickery, I'm inclined to believe that the Eldar would be able to defeat the Necrons on their planet, so I'll go ahead and assume that. Eldar, Dark Eldar, Chaos, Orks and Tau are left. Going off of fluff and style, I would also think that the Dark Eldar would be defeated, in the end, by one of the other factions (possibly Chaos, as they are the closest). The Dark Eldar don't necessarily play to win, so long as there are plenty of slaves and bodies going round. Eldar, Chaos, Orks and Tau. The next battle would be between Orks and Tau (since we know Blood Ravens failed miserably) - and while this one is a tricky one, I have to give my edge to the Tau on this one. But only because I think the Tau would be able to outsmart the Orks, possibly even directing them against the Space Marines and striking when they're weak. So now it's down to Eldar, Chaos and Tau.
To be honest, I think the victory would be in Tau favor, and here's why. While none of the races traditionally work together, I believe I read (either in the Eldar or Tau codex) that Tau and Eldar would be willing to work with each other given the right circumstances. And going off my previous winners, the entire battlefield is now divided into three sectors: Tau, Eldar and Chaos. It's my thought that the Eldar and Tau would find the Chaos to be a greater threat and work together, or at least not against each other, to stop the forces of Chaos. With all foes gone, the Eldar (basing off of their style as well as the Eldar ending for Dark Crusade) leave the system. The Tau eventually take it over.
So, my vote goes out for Tau in this case.

While I follow your line of thought, I think don't think it should be immediately assumed that the Imperium lost out on this. With Cyrus calling the Kauruva campaign a 'huge mistake' that doesn't necessarily mean they lost. It could mean that they won a Phryic victory (that the losses made in securing victory weren't worth it). It could mean that they were either obliterated by the Imperial Guard or purged by the dogmatic Sisters.
Nonetheless, I agree that the very nature of the Tau Empire shows them to be opportunistic and they would likely be in their element when all other races had been weakened. Tau have a habit of expanding into weakened Imperial territories. Of course, the real winners would be the Dark Eldar that have no interest in conquest but would be more than happy to plunder the better part of the system and promptly bugger off.

Canonical Ending
Relic mentions that the Blood Ravens fared poorly in Soulstorm, as it was mentioned in Dawn of War 2 that the Space Marines had to start defending their recruiting worlds or they would not recover. Scout Sergeant Cyrus (a playable character in Dawn of War 2) states, "The Kaurava campaign did not go well. Boreale and many others were killed, along with most of my scouts." While it is known 5 whole companies were lost under Indrick Boreale's command (including Boreale himself), By order of elimination, and due to the fact that the first, second, third and fourth companies appear in Dawn of war 2 [II], we can deduce [as there are only 10 companies in a chapter] that the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth company were wiped out. [although four of these are considered support companies, specialised with heavy weapon and fast attack squads] although the first, second, third, and fourth companies can be excluded as they were under the command of other captains at the time. Who specifically won in Soulstorm, however, is not made clear, and it is unlikely Relic will make an attempt to declare a winner, as Cyrus states, "The Kaurava campaign was a huge mistake. I will not speak of it again."
Basically, Relic are not saying. Which is fair enough - they didn't write the campaign, Ironlore did, and Relic probably odn't like what they did.

I always thought that was a a little joke about how crap the game was Compared to Dark Crusade I thought soulstorm was aweful...."lets make 2 units of men to guard my camp, then build as many flyers as possible and utterly own everything" IMO Tau have a pretty big advantage, and as has already been said the Imperium didnt appear to do well. I'd say it was either Tau, Chaos, Orks or Eldar. I'd want it to be Chaos, but I think Tau would have won. PS....What on earth is this school work?? It sounds amazing!

Umm what exactly does this even have to do with a school project?
On a personal note while I am biased towards Dark Eldar I would have to say Tau given the circumstances, and how generally isolated from the rest of the fighting armies they are at the time. However I will say that if we are talking who would have won as far as video gameplay goes then I'd say necron they are despite how slow they are, really hard to fight. However Dark Eldar can rush and destroy you easily, but for the sake of thinking we are going by fluff I'd say Tau because of the circumstances which largely went in their favor
