Happy Guy Fawkes day all the UK folks!
Erm... maybe I'm too late, isn't it always tomorrow where you people are? (Tomorrow People)

The colors on Condotti are great, it's a nice mini, nice stance for a soldier-type.

Hmm, today feels like today to me (did smirk at the tomorrow people ref though - you are single-handedly changing my views on what the average American watches )

Please, I cannot take any responsibility for what the average American watches. Nobody I know has ever heard any of the stuff I watch. All the classics, Red Dwarf, Blackadder, all the murder mysteries, the crime shows, Blue Murder and Rebus and all of that.
I honestly think that the UK audience has an ability to appreciate a more intellectual and abstract sense of drama and humor.

What about Dad's Army and Dr. Who?

We Americans never watch those shows.

But don't panic. I sure you can get them to change their TV watching ways. Just threaten them. It'll work. They don't like it up 'em.

Weety, I'm really enjoying your blog. Lots of minis that I haven't seen in many a year. Nice to see them getting attention again!

The secret to painting a really big army is to keep at it. You can't reach your destination if you never take any steps.

I build IG...lots and lots of IG.

Dr. Who from an early age, MAJOR influence on my life. I believe I've seen every episode that exists (BBC trashed a bunch from the late 60s - gone forever). Not crazy about the new ones.

Anyway - I second JB's statement - about the classics getting attention. You think any of the old sculptors are out there, maybe checking in on these blogs, seeing their classic work brought to life a-fresh? Or maybe they've all become bankers and Tesco clerks (don't ask me how I know about Tesco) and forgot about their amazing works from yesteryear.

@ Ambul. I would just like to take this opportunity that despite what Frost, Morse, Midsummer Murders, Cadfile, and the one with Robbie Coltrane say we don't have that many murders here.

Have to agree with you on Doctor Who there Ambull, early stuff was classic, not fond of the few new ones I've seen - far as I'm oncerned jelly-babies and a scarf are essentials for a good Doctor

As to having more intellectual and abstract TV over here, we had to come up with something to make up for a lack of production values After all Carter and Reagan burning around London in Rovers doesn't have quite the same sense of glamour as Crockett and Tubbs swanning around Miami in Lambos and Ferraris

dont forget wycliffe the cornish detective. It was pretty awful, we used to watch it just to see places we know on the telly.

Red dwarf and blackadder get my vote. along with father ted, spaced, green wing and one for the Americans and canadians here, due south. It has a mountie and a deaf wolf, doing the fish out water act in gangster city chicago. what more could anyone want.

But seriously I am actally painting stuff and will be getting back on topic soon

Cool I'm glad other people like the dred and not just me. I still want one of the original ones though.

This guy is fun - I'm not sure if he should be a cultist priest or a short rich mercenary. Or maybe even a member of the administratum come to audit the battle. He sort of has the look of a self-important little hitler. He is of course meant to be a space pirate...

Love those glasses/goggles! That headgear is pretty wild, kind of Flash Gordon style.

Again, Weets applies a wonderful range of colors that are very suitable yet very dynamic: The touches of yellow/ochre/gold throughout make the whole fig come together very nicely.

(Cadfael and the Granada Sherlock Holmes are of my favorites, I came to learn about Tesco through my fan-ship of the original industrial group Throbbing Gristle [London Late 70s] - oh and the one with Coltrane [also Young Ones alumnus] is Cracker, seen 'em all - I just love your British television! - And I have always found it so ironic that the best murder mysteries come from the UK, where murder stats are very very low compared to even single states from the US - and Spaced was the greatest show ever - anyway back to the minis, don't want to take away from the energy of this awesome thread)

Well this will be the last one for a while cos I'm of the wales till next weekend to get my free potters wheel. Going to have to trailer it back through mountains which I'm a bit worried about.
But anyway one last merc before I go:

I have tried out my insane detail army painter brush on his pads and I like it. Hope it stands the test of time

Been meaning to ask about that wheel, good news. But have you done anything about finding a studio?

Enjoy the trip, hope everything goes well, see you in a week.

yep I gotta studio too - its a poky little old granite shed which will be pretty cold in winter - at least until I put the kiln on!
but I think it'll be a dequate for my needs - want a troll with a fishing rod? or maybe wielding a lascannon, go-on it'll add rustic charm to your barge

40k pottery? That'll be a niche market then

Great to hear you're good to go though! Do you put any of your work in shops, or do you rely on your website and word-of-mouth?

monkey troll - Was relying on word of mouth till now but that seems to have dried up a bit so I need to expend the website, join other artist sites like deviant art and such like and face my demons and go back to the galleries. Last time I did that I got a frosty reception. but it was years ago and all I really had at the time was sunsets and some vases.

Loving the clay work, checked your FB page and eye was straight away drawn to the amazing acrylic Budgie, but then I found chavtastic and was won over

Some of the static sculptures like the feet and courgette(?) are really clean and very nice.

Deviant art is a pit of teenage popularity contests and filth, You can use it for advertising this kind of work but it won't get any attention on it's own unless you start making sculptures of Twilight characters with their willies out. Shame really, as it started off as a decent art site.

HAHAHA sorry - I had to laugh. I don't know much about it - someone recomended it the other day - I dont like teenage popularity contests. I think all teenagers should be unpopular as it is character building... on the other hand I do like filth. Perhaps If I make a line of ceramic cock sculpture it will go down well. But yes I should spread my self widely and not rely on one site.

Thanks for checking it out!

Are they all snobby galleries round your way then? Shame. My Mum's a photographer and my Dad paints and makes stained glass sculptures, they've both found a few places that will take a few pieces from them. Recently they hired out a local hall one Sunday, displayed some of their stuff, got good results, made a profit and got a few people interested, believe my Mum got at least one commision through it. I know there'll always be a few peeps who like to think your sculptures aren't 'art' purely down to the subject matter (obviously they'd change their tune if you were 'known') but can't see why they wouldn't like the throw stuff, some of that looked gorgeous, and from a local artist. Some people.

Well since then several 'crafts' orientated galleries have opened which might be good for a go. I've been psychologically scarred by artistic rejection though and I will have to force myself to get over it and try again.

Thanks gathering storm - I'll look forward to seeing your work. I love that noise marine you have and I want one!! I will go find one right away
