Thanks TIm, we want a more "serious" approach so a "space vixen" (with all my respect to those) is not the kind of things we want to see in Total Extinction.

What I'm hoping is that the sculpt will look feminine enough. I do agree that the lack of oversized cleavage is a nice change.

The minis look cool and all, but will there be more about the rules and are the rules extensive tested so no big errata will come out of it?

The Beta rules are now available only in Spanish. We expect to finish the translation into English this week.
The rules will be tested for 4 months more after the campaign ends. We want the final edition to be clear and balanced.

Update #11

Unit categories

In Total Extinction all units belong to a category according their characteristics and role in combat.

Unit categories

- Infantry: a unit of soldiers on foot who form the bulk of almost all armies as their First Line. One unit consists of between 4 and 9 soldiers.

- Support: units responsible for helping First Line Units (Infantry and Tanks ) attain their goals. Includes artillery and engineer units.

- Tanks: a First Line Unit which consisst of vehicles or biotechnological beings with heavy armor and weapons. Normally it is composed of from one to three elements.

- Reconnaissance: light troops responsible for the exploration of the battlefield. They are also observers for supporting units. Each unit is composed of from one to six elements.

- Air unit: air units of any kind with a mixed role of reconnaissance and support. They are composed of from one to three units.

- Command: a unit in charge of leading of the rest of the Company or Battalion. This unit includes a Commander and sometimes one or two solders.

The unit categories are necessary to determine the organization of the companies at the beginning of the battle, choosing from different Orders of Battle available (listed in the Rulebook). As an example here is the Order of Battle for a "Shock Company":

Update #12
Oct 28, 2013
Stakan aircraft

Not only the Glorlons has air units. The Union of Colonies needs an air unit able to support their ground units and finds a perfect combination of firepower and manoeuvrability: the Stakan.

Armed with a 14,5mm triple machinegun, anti-aircraft missiles and anti-tank rockets is one of the more versatile units of the Colonial armies.

This will be available as an addon, via SG, once we reach higher levels of funding.

This game looks great and I'm highly considering pledging to it, and thinking of going for the lieutenant deal. However the lieutenant deal doesn't come with the dice or rule book, which I find disappointing. I don't want to shell out for the captain because I don't need two armies. Is there anything I might be able to do instead?

It looks like you can add the book and the dice for £13 on top of your lieutnant. My kickstarter knowledge is limited though.

You could always go captain and take two of the same force in your box, this would give you a standard sized army and give you the rules, dice and templates, (unless its a cost issue)

Or go a step further, pledge for Mayor and get 8 of the same starter.

Unless we get to the point where another faction is added and they're also tempting.

Reminds me of Khurasan's 15mm SciFi Hind. Different propulsion system and so on but still a cool scifi version of a Hind.

It's primarily a cost issues, that is true. The only way I would get a captain deal is if I could convince someone at my FLGS to split the price on the deal, I've yet to talk to anyone about this game yet though.

And here new update:

Update #13 Oct 28, 2013
Glorlon Genocider

More news of the units available soon for Total Extinction.

Glorlon Genocider with his three weapon options: Heavy Acid Rifle, Plasma Gun and Antitank Gun.

Spearhead of the glorlon Infantry, Genociders are bigger than other glorlon troops, better armored and with heavier weapons. In contrast lack of melee weapons, though his tremendous firepower thanks to its heavy acid rifles make almost impossible that any enemy will be able to approach them.

The Glorlon Genocider uses a 55mm round base and each squad has 3 or 4 elements.

Colonial propaganda poster

Hi,

In all wars propaganda is essential to keep up the morale of the troops and citizens. Total Extinction in not an exception and here you have the first propaganda poster of the Union of Colonies:

Its dimensions: 24x40 inches (60x100 cm).

The only thing I on't like about the Glorlon are the tentacles that stick out at the back. They should hang more organically or appear to be writhing.

Rubble or the silohuettes of buildings behind the guy would give the posters that little bit of pop.

The layout is really bad and exacerbated by the lack of a background image or at least shading. Here are some 'real world' examples of better posters using a similarly posed trooper.

For this one, cropping the trooper at the chest would help a lot, as would the addition of some background image and the breaking up of the text.

Can I just say something, and I'm not sure if it's been mentioned already since I haven't read through this enormous thread but - perhaps the lore should be changed to not say 'hundreds of worlds through the known universe', and to 'galaxy' instead?

Why would we so sporadically colonize across the 'universe'? We are talking billions of light years. Humanity wouldn't even be able to maintain such distant colonies, or they'd be so disconnected from each other's cultures they wouldn't even have loyalty to one another anymore.

Perhaps I'm missing something if the lore is a lot deeper, but like I said I only read a few pages and people are talking about production, not really the background . . .

To be fair, there are language issues.

Could this be one of the reasons for the slow growth though on the campaign? I feel they've got a lot of great stuff to offer and I'm surprised more people haven't gotten on board. I think the sci-fi guys and tanks are great but maybe everyone else is on sci-fi overload.

That's getting pretty not picky. Lots of IPs say universe.

The original Stargate movie said universe not galaxy.

And to be fair, it says known universe. Their known universe just happens to be all in one galaxy.

There are 3 pledges at 75,78 and 80 pound. The description at 80p is different than the other two. Typo?

Seeing a real miniature would be a great incentive to pledge.
