There’s certainly something to be said for 6mm scale!

@Gitsplitta: Yup, quite.

@Gwyn chan 'r Gwyll: (I did not just copy-paste your username, I actually typed it out. Which I feel should earn me some sort of medal ) Oh yes, absolutely. I love 6mm. It's affordable, you can actually store it, it can be painted within a manageable amount of time, you can depict proper formations, you can play proper battles on a 6' by 4' table. Especially as we get into the modern era, as armies grew larger and better organized and commandable. And of course for more current stuff, basically starting with WW1, but especially WW2 and later periods, with very mobile sorts of warfare and much larger weapon ranges it works really well. Last but not least for Fantasy and Sci-Fi things 6mm can be used to depict not only proper big battles, but also proper big beasts/war machines.

Heyhey, I finally finished the core of my Fantasy Arabia army. This side project has been simmering for 2 years now; finally I got to finish them. These are meant to be used in a Hordes of the Things campaign we'll start at an undisclosed point in time.

In game terms, what we got here is 2 units of Knights (one of them being the general's element; the bases with the big flags), 2 units of Janissaries (shooters), 1x Soup Pot and Janissary Guard (counts as cleric base), 2 units of Spearmen (the dudes in the left, obviously), right in front of them we got skirmishers (count as Hordes), 3x Riders (we're considering introducing a separation between light cavalry and cavalry as in DBA), 1x Three Wise Men/Magi/Scientists (count as Magician), a fire-spewing cannon (artillery), and a snake charmer (count as Land Lurker).

The figures are all Pendraken 10mm. I also got a bunch of Magister Militum figures later on, featuring elephants, flying carpets, and so on. Let's see when I get those done. But for now the army's fieldable. Hope you like them!

Another one from the "sigur frantically makes random things before he goes back to do other people's things" - it's Wargames Factory's absurdly good and absurdly fiddly skeletons!

Just another rushed job so I got some generic baddies at hand. They'll also get big old Hoplite shields once I dig up fitting decals.

Hope you like them!

Heyhey, happy new year. These were finished last night already, but my camera's batteries were empty and I had to recharge over night.

As mentioned above, these aren't really very showy. Basically just so I got baddies for fantasy gaming as stand-ins for Orcs. Hope you like them!

@Gitsplitta: Thanks very much!

One more thing you need to play Sellswords and Spellslingers is loot markers. Slain enemies drop one of these each for the heroes to pick up.

I made 22 such markers now, because usually quite a few of these are lying around (as long as the players are wise and don't waste a lot of time looting!).

Right, enough of all that silly stuff of my own. I'm back at the desk and finished and delivered the Polish lancers:

6th Uhlan regiment, Duchy of Warsaw:

8th Uhlan regiment, Duchy of Warsaw:

3rd Uhlan regiment, Duchy of Warsaw:

Hope you like them! All 25mm Minifigs

Fun fact: The army of the Duchy of Warsaw (ie "the Polish army" of the time) cavalry regiments were numbered by seniority rather than by arm of cavalry.

Meaning: 1st Chasseurs on horse, 2nd Uhlans (=Lancers), 3rd Uhlans, 4th Chasseurs, 5th Chasseurs, 6th Uhlans. In 1809 another 10 regiments were added: 7th, 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th, 15th and 16th Uhlans, two regiments of Hussars (10th and 13th) and on top of that the commander's (the Duchy's minister of war and later marshal Poniatowski) pet project - the 14th Cuirassiers. In terms of uniforms Chasseurs, Hussars and the Cuirassiers were basically identical to their French counterparts.

Napoleon wasn't happy about these Cuirassiers at all. For the price of this half-regiment another full regiment of Chasseurs could have been raised and he suggested/ordered to retrain and equip them as Chasseurs. Poniatowski though delayed the order endlessly until at 1812 everybody was equipped and on their way to Moskow. Along with them a very expensively dressed and mounted 14th Cuirassiers regiment.

Right afterwards I dove into a few proper large mobs of Orks and Gretchin.
60 Stormboyz, 30 Looterz, 2 Warbosses, 1 Nob with Warbanner, 3 Shokk Attack Guns, 2 Weirdboys, 1 Runtherd, 60 Gretchin. Gotta go fast!

I did as much as I could on all of the minis at once, but for detail painting had to start splitting up the Stormboys into two batches of 30 each. Here's a WIP of the first of them:

@Solar_lion: Thanks very much! Well, given the horde of Orks I'm currently surrounded by a batch of 30 seems like a neat manageable pile. (even though every single little step still takes ages).

Right, the first 30 Stormboyz are slowly slogging in a general direction of completedness:

Still loads to do, but we're slowly getting there. Hope to get them finished properly and maybe get a bit of a headstart on the next 30 before I have to put the Orks aside for more urgently deadlined projects! Hope you like them so far.

Right, I think I'm slowly getting rid of that annoying cold. AND last week I got 53 "Need them done until next week. It's not a hard deadline, but it would be nice" emergency 18mm-Prussians done in quite a painting marathon. So now I'm back to painting Stormboyz:

Hope you like them so far! Saving proper angles for when them boyz are actually done.

@Solar_lion: Thanks very much! I'm always a bit worried peeps would think the paintjobs on these were sloppy. It's just the beaten up look on the metallic parts really.

@Gitsplitta: Cheers! Getting to work on this army really is a stroke of luck.

@Insectum7: Thank you. Yeah, I really enjoy the guys as well. And lots more coming up still!

...but for now a bit of a detour. Last week I was down with a cold. AND I was invited to demo the lovely Chain of Command rules to a group of Bolt Action players. So of course I wanted to make the experience enjoyable to everybody so they see the error of their ways and get into Chain of Command. (kidding. BA is fine. I just prefer Chain of Command)

This means that I had to get back into those rules proper, just so I know what I'm talking about. And I had to familiarize myself with the look and feel of 28mm Chain of Command. Usually I play in 15mm, because it fits the ground scale of the game better, etc. If you've seen any of my CoC battle reports you'll know how i play that game (badly, overall. )

Aaaanyway, good excuse to get out my criminally underused 28mm WW2 collection and set up a nice solo game, eh? Indeed. And here's my battle report of that:

https://www.tabletopstories.net/language/en/2020/02/chain-of-command-going-solo-pt-1/

Battle report available in English and German. Hope you enjoy it!

Right, update on these new Prussians: 12x line musketeers, 4 fusiliers to up to existing unit to 12, and 8 Landwehr cavalry from Silesia.

Hope you have an excellent weekend!

Made in at
Buttons Should Be Brass, Not Gold!

Vienna, Austria

Heyhey. I was reasonably good this weekend.

Here's the state of affairs on these Prussians:

Still need a good bit of finalization, but I'll do that on all of theminis from that batch at once in the end (along with the basing). For now I started work on 8 Polish lancers who also are part of this batch. I gave it some thought and decided to be boring and just do the 3rd Lancers again. More on these later (when they're more presentable).

Hope you like them so far! I'm aware that they look rather dreary right now; basing usually fixes that

Made in at
Buttons Should Be Brass, Not Gold!

Vienna, Austria

Heyhey. Yesterday after a few hours I just couldn't bring myself to paint any more Prussians any more. So I sat down and made 9 more lengths of "all-purpose-28mm-fence" to add to the 10 I did in 2015.

Since I got hat out my system I went back to doing what I'm supposed to do today. Part of the batch of Prussians is a unit of Polish lancers.

I'll do the 3rd regiment, because I really like the uniforms on those. Not the most simple, but very pretty. Not the least becuause they're ratehr similar in look to the 1st lancers of the imperial guard.

Right, that's that. I hope that you like'em so far. Hope to have them done soon. No basing on the lancers as these will be part of an existing collection and the gentleman asked to base them himself.
