Due to my xbox acting up lately, My friend sold me a PS2 for $15(along with Jak 3).

Other than the Jak games, what are some good games for the PS2?

Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, Killzone, Burnout series, Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, Sniper Elite, and many others.

Rogue Galaxy is one of my favorite games, very underrated.

Then there's Persona 4, damn good stuff

And this is coming from a guy who hates JRPG's

Quake 2 FTW

If you were to make a list of awesome games by console, I think the PS2 would win. It had a very long lifespan with a ton of amazing games.

This and GTA: San Andreas is an awesome game, one of my all-time-favourites.

Battlefront 2, definitely. The first was also good, but hard to go back to after 2.

Disgaea, if you like tactics RPGs and can find it, although it's a lot more readily available on other systems now.

Whoa wait a second, why do you think 10 sucked? That was an awesome FF game. Infact it was the only one I really enjoyed and wanted to finish since 7. The others in between were just so dull

What I did like about the first was that you could go into cockpit view of vehicles. Although there are a few WTF moments like driving a droid starfighter or something like that, the cockpit view thing really added an awesome amount of "realism".


Oh, and I don't care what anyone says, Fire Warrior is fun. (The campaign)

Im going to assume you forgot to mention that Knights of the Old Republic is the best StarWars game ever, THEN its Battlefront 2. But Old Republic never came on a PS2 platform, so Battlefront 2 is the best on a PS2 Ok Im stuck in the quote bar after numerous tries lol

How about Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2 and Okami.

10 was horrible, and only tolerable due to Rikku.
They got progressively worse since 8.

Tidus was whiny and annoying, and most of the characters were generally unlike-able. The storyline was pretty predictable. That and it was really linear. You had limited freedom compared to the earlier games.

Final Fantasy 10 was an analogy to the Second World War okay people, its a sneaky WW2 game.

Okay the thing about Jak is the fact that 1,2,and 3 were made by Naughty Dog of Crash Bandicoot fame. Jak: Final Frontier was made by Rebellion of Star Wars Battlefront: Rogue Squadron(PSP) fame. Same characters, different developer.

Ps2 had a massive range of great games, most of which are dirt cheap now. Checking the local stores bargain bins tend to result in great finds.

I cannot believe this thread has been going on and no one has mentioned Yakuza. Awesome take on the RPG genre, the horrible American voice acting does not detract from how awesome this game is.

POP: The Sands of Time is as close to perfection as you can get on the PS2, ignore the games that followed.

GTA: Vice City, the best GTA game EVER!

I've heard that the X-box versions of battlefront 1 and 2 have slightly better graphics, so I think I'll stick with them.

Having played only a few PS2 games, I'm gonna cast my vote for Metal Gear Solid 3. You don't get much more awesome than Big Boss.

Also if you get a PlayStation 1 memory card, you can play the whole PlayStation 1 library as well due to backwards compatibility. Something you might want to consider.

Yea Shadow of the collossus was a great game. Thats a good one too. Definitely gets your brain/anger censors a good work out

Buy Resident Evil 4, right fething now. You can gets dozens of hours out of it and it's fun to challenge yourself with self-imposed limits (like no merchant or just basic weapons).
