@Dr H: Thank you! How do you do in these interesting times?

Right, I did some more experimentation with photorgraphy of larger figures as I wasn't happy with the Harley Quinn photos. Here's one with a backdrop:

Then I felt like working on another larger figure. That's Alexandro Models' interpretation of Porthos. Just like Harley Quinn 75mm:

He isn't quite done yet, but he's at the "late WIP stage" at which he still needs a final neantening up, which is a very, very slow process I'll most likely do over the next 10 months or so. Hope you like him1

@Gitsplitta: Ha, thanks. Well, there's still a lot to fix about either I think, but who's got the time? Anyway, thanks for the comment. Much appreciated.

So I'm back to doing things I should be doing. In this case: 30 Looterz.

Very enjoyable to paint. Larger surfaces done, now on to the details! Hope you like them so far.

Call it dedication, call it being behind schedule by a few months... tomayto-tomahto.

Right, the Looterz are pretty much done, except for the bases getting properly finished. First, a picture of all of them together, and then I roughly split the mob in half (by applying an even rougher karate chop to it) for some more closer-up photos:

Hope you like them! Next up: Loads of huge characters.

Heyhey, here's the first WIP shot of the characters:

As you can see there's lots of them and they're pretty much all bloody huge.

So what's everybody up to? I have to admit that there's no wargaming done at the moment. Not even solo. Loads of video gaming, but nothing proper. How about you?

Three! And each one different. The 2008 one redone in Finecast, the less good remake in Plastic, and a resin monstrosity with some conversions (well, all of them are slightly converted) which looks Kromlech-y? Either way, that biggest Big Mek's face is amazing. Paul Bonner-esque!

The Kromlech ork heads are amazing. Have many in my collection. A little over-sized though. Hard to fit them on GW models.

@Gitsplitta: A few years ago I reviewed some Kromlech stuff. Yeah, you might be right there, but I don't really mind the head size. better than too small heads.

@Captain Brown: Thanks as always

Right, here's the first few characters in a "as good as done" state:

Now I'll move on to the three Big Meks with Shokk Attack Guns and a Runtherd, then I'll go over all the characters once more and then do the bases. That's the plan.

How's everybody doing?

I'm doing OK, thanks, Siggy - how're you doing?

The Ork characters are looking good, dude - is that a converted Orruk on the left?

@Dysartes: Yeah, things be well here in the Battle Brush Bunker. We're all pretty much isolated entities, but we stay in touch via phone, the occasional video gaming, etc. Every other day or so I get to play with the niece in the garden. So that's nice. But no real 'hanging out'. My parents are getting better again, which is a big relief. My mom's been down with a nasty pneumonia for the last three weeks and my dad (who got a kidney transplant and has to take immune supressants) also had a bad cough throughout that time, so that was rather scary. They're getting better now though. Apart from that things actually change rather little for myself, but for the rest of the family things are different of course. So yeah, things are less tense now and we'll basically sit out the whole thing. luckily here in Austria they took measures pretty fast, not the least because we see what happens in Italy (poor guys. The numbers and hospital situation are chilling) and of course the badly-managed outbreak in Tyrol during winter tourism season. Let's hope things get better soon. We're following each other on Twitter, right? Took me ages to realize the Twitter handle and make the connection. Yeah, the guy in the left is converted, and I think the guy in the right's also an AoS Orc originally.

Right, the Big Meks with Shokk Attack Guns are up to snuff now was well.

As with the Nobz, not quite there yet, but mostly they are. The next big step is getting the 60 Gretchins and their Runtherder painted. The gentleman I paint these for is especially fond of Gretchins, so he asked me to make them look extra nice. Hope I'm up to the job!

Smashing work.
I didn't notice the fishnets on Harley before, they look really fine. Was there a trick or just painstaking work?

 Sigur wrote:

I do fine, thanks. As you say, not much change for us "stay indoors, paint things" people. Although a few minor inconveniences, nothing to complain about compared to some.

@Dr H: Goodie. The fishnets are actually cast on. The figure is all metal, with the exception of the legs, which are resin. The very fine texture is just quite different to paint. Using thin paints or washes are out of the question, because the texture messes those up badly. So it took me a go or two to figure out how do approach that. I also got the smaller (1/32nd scale) version, which I believe is all resin, but I'm not entirely sure.

Hello, friends. How do we do today?

I'm still working on those Gretchin.

These are a bit of a slog I have to admit. Amazing figures, amazingly converted for each one to be individual, but just that makes them much more work to paint.

Anyway, I'm happy. I'll have pizza and watch some tv lateron and this just arrived at my doorstep:

Been looking forward to these for quite a while. Not the least because the book's insides is plastered with photos of my 10mm Thirty Years War collection.

Glad to see that the majority of those Gretchin are the characterful Brian Nelson Gorkamorka sculpts, rather than the newer plastic Gretchin which don't have quite the same feel. Looking good so far!

Thanks, Ubermike. Haven't seen you in a while! Yeah, the plastic versions usually are less impressive or interesting than the proper traditionally sculpted ones.

Right, I'm happy to announce that the Gretchins are done! 63 thereof, all individually converted, lovely little pieces of sass.

@Captain Brown: Cheers! Yeah, the Gretchins were a bit of a challenge. They may look like pretty uniform naked guys with minimal equipment (steady now), but in fact these little buggers are all so proper individual that they were indeed a bit of a slog. But I love'em. Such great collection of models. Ghazghkull was pretty okay to do. Impressive model, and at that point I of course had the various techniques used on this army down to a tee.

Okay people, here's the army and detail shots. These are just a sample, I'll post these and all the rest over the next weeks on the Battle Brush Studios blog.
