I wonder if BL would miss opportunity to advertise alleged final conclusion and last book of Heresy series as such.

I agree with Dysartes: From the description, it sounds like they're devoting the entire book to Sanguinius vs. Horus, so there probably will be a Pt. 3 containing the final confrontation between the Emperor and Horus and the aftermath, installing him on the Throne, lots of supporting characters standing around crying, etc.

(Assuming they can't find any other lore giblet to devote an entire book to between Sanguinius' fall and the final Father / Son bout. It's looking like it'll be a trilogy to me at this point, but I can't put anything past them.)

So do we think that they'll tell the story straight - Horus offers Sanguinius a place beside him, Sang says 'Nah, dawg!' and then dies fighting him but carves a chink out of his armour, then Big E shows up, they do a big of dramatic speechifying, and then fight one another until Big E realises he can't save Horus so goes full Super Saiyan on him, using that weakness Sang put in the armour to get through and defeat him - or do you think they'll use this "proper" telling of the Horus Heresy to put in some rando twist, like Horus saw the error of his ways, killed the Emperor (but not before Big E absolutely blasted him), and quickly took his place to become the new Emperor, or something equally as silly?

Two new Ciaphas Cain books are coming:

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2023/06/07/ciaphas-cain-reluctantly-returns-in-a-new-novel-and-a-collection-of-classic-tales/

One is a new novel, the other is a collection of 13 short stories that have been released previously.

Do we think that the shorts anthology is all of the scattered short stories then? Or are we looking at reprints of material from the previous anthologies?

I sure hope it's the scattered short stories, some of them are quite hard to find.

Usually these anthologies collect previously published stuff and throw a new one or two in for good measure - it thinkt that there are not that many Cain short stories, it pretty much has to involve some that have been printed in previous omnibus volumes. Lexicanum currently lists 10 Ciaphas Cain shorts.

Will they become available in paperback through Amazon or Barnes and Noble? Or are they going to be limited edition hardcovers?

Looking at the cover (alleged!) for this book, yeah, there's almost certainly going to be a Pt. 3!

I just wish I could find more of the omnibi in paperback. I got the first GG omnibus more than a year ago and quite liked it. Haven't been able to find the next one since. I'm likewise stuck on trying to finish the Horus Heresy series - so close to the finish line but can't find "Wolfsbane" to save my life.

Speaking of which, I was looking at Black Library's website, and there are more than 20 different volumes with different omnibuseses and short story collections. I didn't want to spend an hour plotting out which omnis overlap with which single novels and which don't. Has anybody else made a roadmap of what's where?

All of the other books were available in dead tree, ebook and audio-book, so I'm assuming the new one will be too. If not right away then at least eventually.

I did that for Age of Sigmar and Old World a while back. I've not updated either in a bit ,but but bulk of them are done.

40K I didn't even attempt. BL are horrific for bundling the same stories in different bundles to the point where its actually a very big maze to work out which stories are where and what order to read and such. Old World is perhaps the best right now if just because the bulk has moved to omnibus editions..

Nowadays they're using short stories more to pad their digital offerings like the e-Shorts events, advent calendars and so on, and to stuff Omnibuses and such. Inferno! seems to have gone away quietly during the Pandemic, the last volume was released more than two years ago.

9 main novels, the rest are shorts. Hero, Defender, and Savior of the Imperium are the 3 omnibus books that include the main novels and 5 of the shorts. The entries for the omnibus tell you which shorts and books are inside.

Not only are many of these Shorts, there's also a lot of double-entries at the start and the back, because audiobooks get their own listing.

Exactly my thoughts.

Approx armies
9000pts AdMech (Main army)
7000pts Black Templars (original army)
3500pts Death Guard (lazy side project)
2000pts Imperial Knights (extension of AdMech)
2000pts Harlequins (fun side project)

I'd love for another crime novel by Chris Wraight, I found his character the most interesting so far.

That said, looking forward to getting King of the Spoil next Saturday.

Also wishing BL would start doing audio dramas again, still waiting on that next instalment of Agent of the Throne. Not to mention, the conclusion to the Horusian Wars, that one ended on a cliffhanger.

So, I've got to about 40% through The End and the Death, and just got to where Horus has lowered the shields on the Vengeful Spirit.. and you're telling me there is going to be a part 3?

Mother of God, that is a level of procrastination that hasn't been seen since the later series of Lost. It's like BL looked at how the Hobbit spread a 100 page book into three feature length movies, looked at the few paragraphs in Epic first edition, and just decided to knock that out of the park.

And the fethers know that I am fully invested at this point and am still going to have to get parts 2 and 3..

(I am only half joking here as I'm enjoying the book, even though The End and the Death keeps using words that my ebook tells me aren't in the dictionary, and there is a certain amount of 'good will' still remaining as ADB's book was so well written).
