Hi people,
i tought maybe some people read this part of the forum,so...Here is something to read.
I started playing tabletop around two months ago, i tought about it a long long time.
I played DOW 1, and that was really...inspiring (chainsword to the gut...FTW),but the painting part and the cost seemed a little too much
(not being very artistic and all).A year ago,i stumbled on the Horus Heresy serie while searching for cool sci-fi to read in english,as a way to improve my english skills. As you may have guessed by now(from the odd choice of words or weird Syntax) english is not my primary language.
HH is also awesome.
What really convinced me to invest into an army (apart for the fact a few friends were starting),was reading the rules of forth ed., with so many cool rules that game cannot be anything less than awesome.Turns out i was right,i am not disapointed, but reading 4 ed. just before trying to learn 5 ed wasn't such a good idea after all.The rules are kind of all mixed up in my head now.
So now our gaming group, has a IG player,an ork ,a SW, chaos marines, and i for my part started a SM army with the idea of switching later to another codex (DA or BT, BA is too melee oriented, so for sake of diversity...)
Turns out i decided to go for Salamanders...The black skin caused by radiation or geneseed repelled me at first but twin link melta and flamers seems very... interesting.
So thats about it.
see you all on the forum

Thanks for the welcome guys, Dakka really look like a great community.

@waaagh_gonad I'd say something about 4 years, i really enjoyed many 40k themed video games(epic, chaos gate, firewarrior and DOW)for their...GrimDarkness.When i saw that some of my friends were interested in starting to play i jumped in,i wouldn't have otherwise because i am not really the type to go at a flgs and try to play with a stranger...not really a good way to learn the game.Altough i might try it sometime when i know the rules more in depth.

@GazzyG I'm from Quebec(province), oui je parle francais
You post from U.K.?You moved there or you learned french for those quick trips accross La Manche?

That is nice, i was under the impression that not many americans speak french outside of Louisianna.
I am not familiar with U.S. states abreviation PA stands for Pennsylvania(probably not how you spell it)right?

well, now that i see my own post, the tip tool says what PA means...And i guess you do not live in power armor.

Nah, it stands for psychic attack. You spelled Pennsylvania correct... I think. For spending my whole life hear, I sure spell it incorrectly a lot though.

EDIT - I also can't really speak french to save my life, unless all I had to say was hello, or sacred blood. Thank you Google Translate

Welcome, mate! I love your avatar. The Battletech Universe is my second favorite sci-fi franchise, just after Warhammer 40k.

I've always dreamt of making a Madcat titan for my Imperial Guard.

Madcat with voidshield would be awesome.
This picture is from MW4:mercenaries.
It makes a great background, the mechs look like they are walking on the default XP background.

I bet IG would like to have sentinels like that...not that they need it tough.

I prefer the Daishi, or the Kodak. Mechwarrior 4 was one of my favorite games, though once I beat the campaign on hard my interest dropped.

Well,
i live in a rather tough neighborhood and since i have the opportunity to see some crack addicts,i can tell you that at the end of the day they have some Nurgulesque theeths to show...That and they always try to show you other things,in the dark back alley.
Now that i think of it, if Nurgle and/or Slaanesh has a grip on the real world,i think those are their heralds.
Following a crack addict in a dark back alley would be the equivalent of taking the red pill in the Matrix.
