Fresh-Faced New User

New user taking the chance to introduce himself here!
My name is Kev, I am a long time lover of tabletop gaming, However I don't get to play as much as I used to, so now tend to focus on the Hobby aspect of the game.
I have a very large Dark Angels army who, while not having seen battle in many moons, are far from gathering dust. They have been a WiP since the last Codex was released. I played 40k around the time of second edition with a couple of friends. They kind of fittered away as childhood friends do, and, being to much of a complete wimp to ever play against people I dont know, I started looking at other pursuits, mostly music and girls. After many years of chasing both and failing miserably, I walked past a Games Workshop in Liverpool city centre. It was raining outside and I was in town early to meet a mate. So I wandered in, and wandered back out again with the Chaos Space Marines codex and a box of Bezerkers... and so ended my life! haha.
I had a fascination with Chaos, most notably Khorne, when I was a youngun. When I played 2nd edition, the Chaos codex was incoming but not yet released (if memory serves me right, I'm sure someone can correct me on that one). So they always seemed fascinating more due to my lack of knowledge about them than anything. Weird eh?
I was lucky insomuch as a few friends who also dabbled as kids decided to have another bash at the hobby when I spoke with them, and we ended up having a small, but incredible Friday night gaming club, so I would actually get to play, since there was no way the staff in my local GW could ever talk me into growing a pair and playing against someone I didnt know. We played a few games and it all snowballed. I got into Dark Angels and we ended up playing after work every Friday night. I can say without hyperbole that they were some of the greatest times I h ave ever had. I would leave work at five, jump on a train to manchester. Meet up with my friends in the centre, travel out to their place, where we had our own gaming tables, scenery, multipe armies that we kept (there were only a few of us, so we got different armies to mix up the games a little). We would go to the chippy, have an amazing meal, and at about nine we would bust out the tables, and play until the early hours.
Like all things though it came to an end. Friends went travelling, moved to different places, family commitments got the better of us, and we now haven't played together for well over a year now, which means I havent played at all. I am still involved in the hobby as much as I can be, I write a little blog about 40k and Warcraft sometimes, I read and post on forums, and I paint when I can. I also collect old White Dwarf's, codecies, and army books when I can.
So thats me in a nutshell! I'm looking forward to posting and getting involved with the Dakka Dakka community, and imparting, where I can, the megre wisdom I have attained, but I suspect I will mostly be learning from you guys.
See you in the pit
Kev
