I Blame You!
After a ten year hiatus I'm getting back into 40K.

About a week ago I had one of my good friends over to my apartment, he saw a AonBR dreadnought I had gotten as a gift from a roommate and started asking questions about it. I explained to him best i could about the game, and then he asked me if we could play it(i had been given the rest of AoBR by the same roommate when he left for the military, so we had enough)

I told him he had no idea what kind of pandora's box he just opened.

I pulled out my small remaining painted DA forces and we fumbled through our first game. I was reminded why I had loved 40K so much as a teen. My friend asked me why I had gotten out of the game. I explained to him that the local gaming stores had all stopped carrying GW products, the gamers I had played with all disappeared(no FB in 2001) and back then mail order wasn't an option for me.(15 years old, with responsible parents)

My friend then started asking me all about the different armies, got me to read over some of the codex's with him and got me all excited about 5th ed, and about 40K all over again.

I remembered how much I loved painting, converting and beating the snot out of Tau.

I'm in college now, have limited funds, but thanks to all of the great Dakka Dakka Blogs I've been reading I'm all fired up to paint my dread, and newly acquired(and assembled!) landspeeder.

ps. know any good tutorials for dread and speeder magnets?

Thanks guys!
I'm taking a 4 hour road trip to Halifax, home of the nearest GW(and girlfriend) today! Hopefully get to get in my second game in as many weeks!

Might try and pick up the Dark Angles chapter upgrade and some washes(I've never used washes before, awkwardly excited about the prospects)

ps. Jon Touchdown, are you a football fan? If so, who do you have this weekend in the NFC championships?

Thank you very much!

Went over to GW Halifax this evening and arrived just in time to see the forces of chaos soundly defeat order in a larger campaign that the store has been running for the last month.

Picked up some Badab Black (they were out of Delvan Mud! ) and might be back there tomorrow to relearn how to play this damn miniature spaceman table top battle game.

also saw that new space marine gunship(aka the flying toaster), the model is a lot better in person!
