I was flipping through my codex today, and out of curiosity started reading the rules for lucius. And I muet say, he looks pretty kick-a$$ (can you say ass on dakka?)

So I was wondering, what does dakka think? Do you prefer khârn or lucius?

I'm not a chaos player, but for me it has to be Kharne. He is truly a beast, and yes you may hit your own unit, but its still well worth the price.

Khârn is a beast especially when you put him in a squad with plague bearers

but lucius has this great rule which allows him to make a str 4 attack which ignores saves for every save lucius succesfully makes

Oh I agree Lucius is good as well.

To be honest both have their uses - it really depends on the type of list youre running?

Kharn all the way. He and Lucius only have a 5 point difference in cost and Kharn kills and maims more efficiently. He is a true one man army. Full stop.

+1 for Kharn

IMO the best thing Lucius can do is get killed by a hoard and use his special rule to bring them down with him.

Khârn wins it for me. Both of them can get IDed, but Khârn is killier and psychic powers don't directly affect him. You can try and mind war Lucius, but Khârn would just stare at you like you're a loony and kill you anyway.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

And, with his plasma pistol, he can burn too!

There's a reason that "KILL! MAIM! BURN!" is attributed to Khârn the Betrayer, and he's a complete beast in CC, especially against MEQ and/or vehicles. Khârn all the way!

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

Kharn definately. For his cost, he can literally take on any sort of situation in close combat bar a horde of 50 guardsman in a single squad. He can pop a dread, kill termies, and wipe the floor wihth MEQs. He's also completely immune to psychic powers. Lucius looks good on paper but he's little more than a gimmick character.

Kharn is more dependable overall. Point him in a direction and just let him do his thing. Lucius is an entertaining character though, and could definitely be run to surprise your opponent once in a while.

Kharn is a pretty cool guy.

Kills a whole bunch of stuff, your guys too, but he'll basically kill one of something every turn.

The problem with Lucius is that he is counter intuitive. You would want him to take armor save, but his whip reduces the attacks done on you... besides you really do not want your special characters that only have a 3+ save to be taking too many of those saves to begin with. It does not matter how many hits that armor on Lucius does if he dies.

Kharn will kill more guys on a charge than Lucius will. Lucius will have hit whip to reduce incoming attacks, but chance are you'll still have more saves to do than you would have if you'd used Kharn and he's more likely to do die from than the other would.

Well let's see, the choice is between Kharn, who is a reliable combat assault monster capable of eating half a squad by himself, and Lucius, whose special abilities involve being marginally better than absolutely terrible for the points cost...

Basically unless your a Masochist, Kharn is definately your man for killing stuff.

I vote for Kharn. Unlike like Lucius, Kharn can actually fight a walker and win. And who doesn't like always hitting on a 2+?
