Um, pretty much every country that sided with Nazis is still alive today (Italy, Japan, etc).

Eastern Europe was occupied and turned into client states until the 90s when they went indepednent. However that trend has reversed.
Eastern Germany got the crap kicked out of it by the Russians.

Italy survived ok only because we were the ones that took it. Same to same for Japan.
