is there a better close combat weapon than Gorechild?

My vote goes to Warscythes. Also them Nemesis Halberds look pretty good.

The greatest weapon is the Daemonblade Crowe has! It's so powerful it collapsed onto itself and lost it's abilities! XD

In all seriousness the Warscythe gets my vote. If you wanted something dead, the warscythe is the thing to do it.

Necrons, Its a great weapon, but considering the rest of the book, its not much to worry about most of the time

I'd say Gorechild is certainly one of the best weapons in the game. I don't know about it being the best weapon (the Betrayer rule really makes Kharn's cost go up by quite a bit), but it certainly does well for me.

I do miss the days before the CSM FAQ when he could use it to hit vehicles on a 2+ as well. Kharn was one of the best anti-skimmer models of the time.

Do we count Apocalypse wargear? If so, the Legion Relic (S10 power weapon, doubles wielder's base attacks) is pretty ace...

No, seriously. Every one of the boyz gets one for free, it's a ranged weapon and CC as it's a Pistol; that's a potential +30 Attacks for the Unit in close combat after the 30 shots they have just taken.

All these special weapons are nice and maybe needed agaist tough foes & vehicles but they're expensive, limited in who can have them and they still miss on a 1 like anything else.

Warscythe, 10 pts. Yeah, ignoring every save in the game in CC for just 10 easy points.

Well rumours point to the Warscythes becoming PW's that deal ID, which is terrible. Unless pariahs are like 1/2 the cost. The C'tan Phase Blade that the Callidus Assassin has in the new GK codex does exactly that.

It would suck to lose one of the most unique weapons in the game. I mean if Ward wants to give hella good stuff to GK's like the Nemesis Halberds, maybe he'll keep the Warsycthes the same. All in all I don't have my hopes up very high for the new Necrons.
