My crit would be his toga/dress thing. The way its painted it looks like you need to keep on highlighting more to pure white or something I m not sure...

But it way better then what I can do, good work.

Yeah, I might go back later and highlight the toga a little more in the future, but I want to try and get the whole 1850 pt force painted before adepticon to this standard, once that's done, I'll go back and fix the little things

That;'s the plan, anyway!

Funny thing is the guy sent out before everyone else wheres armour that screams out "I HAVE WINGS IM IMPORTANT." OTOH, it looks sick.

Great use of the SW's codex, and great conversions and painting. Your banner is the best I've seen in awhile. On my end it seemed as if banners were going out of fashion with players, but I love your attention to detail and fluff. Looking forward to the next update!

love the fluff and everything on the paint jobonly thing I dont like is the end of the thunder hammer. Just does not really fit with the rest of the paint job.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

So, we had our monthly games day yesterday at a local club, and while I didn't get a chance to take as many photos as I would have liked, you know how it is in regards to forgetting photos due to love of the game, I did manage to get some.

I played two 1,500 points games. I was using Codex Space Marines. My force was roughly as follows.

HQ:

Chapter Master, terminator armor, twin lightning claws.
Honor Guard, 4 members including chapter champion with thunderhammer and chapter standard bearer.

Troops.
Tactical Squad, 10 men. Missle Launcher, flamer.
Razorback (Twin HBs)

Tactical Squad. 10 Men. MM/Melta
Rhino.

Elites
Dreadnaught MM/Storm bolter
Drop Pod

Sternguard (5)
Sgt, Powerfist.
Rhino.

Fast Attack
Land Speeder, MM

Heavy Support.
Land Raider Redeemer
MM.

Predator, Autocannon, HB Sponsoons.

My first was against Tyranids, and my good friend Ivan's nicely painted swarm.

My first against Tyranids, was pretty terrible result for my Ravens lol. My first time really playing against them I didn't realize the power of genestealers, or that they have outflank, so I deployed all my armor and heavy support into a corner, and he randomized all 3 squads and the broodlord coming into that one corner, which resulted in a dead predator, 2 dead tac squads in rhinos, and a dead sternguard squad in a rhino. :smt010 :smt012

I was really happy with my honor guard, they proved they are a true force to rekon with on the battlefield with a massive 15 power attacks and 4 thunder hammer attacks on the charge, they cleaned up an entire unit of 10 tyranids warriors in one round of combat. But I didnt want them to be so good! the fact that they acheived this left them horribly exposed and they were shot to a pulp by a hive tyrant with 12 shots, all rerolling hits and wounds, and I rolled up 4 1s out of 12, and that was the end of them,

But still their perforamce was solid, and I think i will continue to include them at the exclusion of assault terminators for now, tho technically assault terminators would be better, and I may pick up a unit of them, and try experimenting with both!

My Dreadnaught proved his worth in this game, taking down the super tooled up carnifex with 5 in close combat, after pegging a wound off it with his MM upon landing.

I found the chapter's master orbital bombardment utterly useless in both games, in the tyranid game he used it and it totally missed everything, and the chapter master himself (in terminator armor with 2 lighting claws) charged into a unit of 10 termagaunts, failed to wound any of them, and then failed 5 of his 6 2+ armor saves on the attack back, and died.:blowup:

In the end I conceeded at turn 5, with only my land raider and immobilised dreadnaught on the table, given I was 6 kill points down. My opponent was happy with the concession as it allowed us to set up the tables for a second game against different opponents.

I feel my biggest mistakes that cost me the game were all deployment mistakes, after that, I played everything as well as I could and made no mistakes I can remember. But early deployment errors proved fatal. I will never split my forces on two flanks against tyranids again, and will remember the killing power of genesteals outflanking an always put my tanks dead center against them.

Second battle against the eldar was next.
Dawn of War, Anhillation.
He deployed accross the whole table as you can see, I deployed all tanks into one tiny area on the far right flank.

I focused all my firepower for the first 2 turns into his avatar taking it down. The dreadnaught was destroyed after coming out of the drop by the wrath lord (not before taking 2 wounds from the monster however), and the land speeder landed, scattered into his wave seperant and rolled up destroyed on the deep strike mishap table, and that was the end of him. Not his most stellar game.

The avatar absorbed 2 full rounds of shooting from everything in my army, but my opponent failed to capitalize on this distraction.

But after the Avatar was down, my next big worry was his 10 wraith guard, they walked over the table, but I was able to get the distance right, drive 12 with my land raider, flame half of them killing 4 with the flamestorm, then assault with the honor guard and wipe them out to a man including the warlock (tho it took 2 rounds of assault)

There used to be 10 Wraithguard and a warlock there.

After they were gone, he didn't have anything left that could directly challenge my land raider or armor dominance and I basically just killed the rest of his forces, killing everything except a unit of jetbikes and dark reapers by the end of the game.

I gave my opponent some tips on how to improve his force and his tactics, overall a good day.

Best Performer overall:
Land Raider Reedmer; What a monster! This beast was unstoppable and wracked my opponents psychology off the table every game. Everyone was terrified of it, and it ptoved why! Its kill tally for both games together come to,
2 Tyranids Warriors,
3 Tyrant Guard,
2 Zonathropes.

4 Wraith Guard
1 Wave Serpent
5 Dire avengers
3 Warlocks
1 farseer.
1 WraithLord.
6 Guardians.

Worst Performer:
Varried a lot in both games, but I think the chapter master proved unable to make his points back. I will change his load out to a relic blade, next time.

Middle Performer: Sternguard
They were pretty decent in both games when I got the chance to use them, very flexible able to deal with whatever threat was most potent at the time. But proved very fragile. I'm not sure I will continue to use them.

Breakout Star:
Honor Guard. They rocked the socks off. I will play my next game with assault terminators and see who is better. I think Pedro Cantor with assault terminators would be a better set up, tho.

We only have 3 players who own terrain and we had 5 tables set up, so we had to spread it accross a lot of tables.

It happens.

I dont think the terrain was particularly lacking for either table, tho?

Well, yes it was. If the nid player would have faced IG or other shooty force the would have been really one sided. There is no terrain to block firing lanes from one corner of the table to another so you don't have to move to fire to another players deployment zone. I think 40k needs about twice the amount of terrain that you had on table to be interesting.

Nice shots and armies tho, keep the pics coming.

Well, the nid player was super, super shooty

So the lack of terrain hurt me more than him, I felt

One of my friends once rolled 1's on 11 d6's (not all at once, but in a row) during a game of crimson skies.

Also My tau once killed a hive tyrant that rolled 4 ones on five dice.

Its a crazy world out there

I've been to a japanese GW, very cramped. Although Ive seen this decent sized retailer that has a decent sized gaming club in Japan too.

When you play you should take some photos at the models POV, looks cool. The picture quality on the FW avatars a bit of a shame tho.

Yeah was taken in a hurry.

I started my next project last night, the 1st of my two predators. Shoud have the reds all finished by tonight, I hope. Going to trial a new speed highlight method I have invented for use on vehicles to get them painted faster without sacrificing too much quality. The Dread/Land Speeder just took so long to paint.

Lookin good. I'd say, maybe paint the skull on the winged eagle a different colour. Just makes it stand out more. But, hands down, some more excellent work mate.

Maybe... But having the aquila painted gold ties the turret in with the rest of his army.

The almighty Blood Ravens! The new Ultramarines! However, from what RP's doing, I can't blame those who want to collect them...
