How did the thudd guns arrive packaging-wise? Surely they can't have been put in those awful plastic bags that they charge you 12% for shipping?

Did you think of adding some tarpaulin to the base? Fast food packaging bags soaked in PVA are perfect because they are tough.

(Nice work!)

Ok, since I added the sandbags it ment the spotter could no longer see over the trench.... DOH! So I've ripped this base apart and cut away at the wood to form a new hole for him to sit and filled the old one. Pics soon...

Ok, so before work I managed to fix the base up. Looking forward to my next days off so I can work on this some more and get the 2nd THUDD moving along.
Apologies for another crappy picture. Hope to sort out the normal camera soon...

Off for 4 days now. Will work on these as much as possible. Oh, and in NON-DKOK news, my lovely fiancee picked me up Tretch Craventail from the new Skaven range yesterday. She was in the local GW and as all the staff seem to fancy her they gave it to her 2 days before its released! I haven't got a Skaven army as my times is taken up by the Krieg but mentioned when I saw it and said it looks like a nice model and be fun to paint and full of character and she got it! Go her!

*Salutes* Yes Sir!
Just primed the rat and worked a little more on the base for first Thudd and assembled 2nd Thudd Gun. Over next days I need to make another base.. well 2 and also assemble rest of crew. Pics as they happen

Sorry for late reply Cain.
They came in plastic bags and then put inside a cardboard box with a little sheet of bubble wrap.
Thinking about the Tarpaulin. Am thinking about what to do about bases. Either have 3 matching bases all in trenches or instead have 1 in trench, 1 out in open with sandbags around it and then something else for 3rd one? Not sure, all I know is the first trench base I did was hassle... but in saying that I now know what to do so it shouldn't take as long... but then different ones could be a bit more interesting?

Maybe the third one could have some scrim netting set up around it, i.e how the Brits concealed their Artillery in the Falkland War, or the yanks in Desert Storm.

It could look quite interesting.

Just a brush. Plan on investing in an airbrush in the future.

Lovely work as usual. The skin tone on Tretch is very nice, particularly the tail.

Devlan Mud and then last watered down Badab Black for heavily creased areas

Thank you as always!
Hope to get some more stuff done tomorrow. For Tretch I've pretty much used 90% Washes. Building layers and layers. The tail was a few layers over Ogryn Flesh and then lastly some Devlan Mud to bring out the creases Seeing photo I can see few areas need cleaning up, will get on these tomorrow

The mud corps of Devlan Look immense. I'm amazed you can get such good results from such a (apparently) simple technique, i am sure there is more to it. The tanks look very realistic, like painted metal, rather then plastic/resin, the track mud is perhaps a little too 'tar sand' for my liking but i like the idea. Realy dig the scenic bases on the flak cannon things as well.

I'm loving the looks; you managed to pull some quasi-realism out of those Dkok (as realistic as a bunch of burly men with laser rifles can be anyway) - they look great Reg!

Howdy! Sorry for lack of updates. Had some sad news a few weeks back and this kinda made me loose the urge to work on my beloved DKOK.

Well, I'm off for 13days starting tomorrow and plan to work on them ALOT. So updates and pics as they happen!

She's a bit better but these things are never easy... She's flying over in a month to meet with family etc.

Hope to get alot of the Death Korps done. Kinda annoyed at FW though, had a list of things that are next on the "To Buy" list and FW have removed them all from site. eg. Wanted the Death Riders but now you have to buy these individually. This costs another £12 onto of old price for 5... same with Mortar Battery. These guys are expensive enough but now its getting silly!

I'd ask what's wrong, but it would come out sounding kras, and unsympathetic.

I love your army, and your painting style. I think I've always been a fan of the Death Korps, in particular their rough riders. Something about Gasmasked horses really appeals to me! Needless to say, I hope your fiancée is ok, and I eagerly await updates!

Nah, its fine sir. Short answer is one of her friends back in Germany died. So put the new year off to a very crappy start.

Thanks for your nice comments, I hope to have some progress soon and will try not to disappoint.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but just saw this on Warseer:

SilentSmoke wrote:I emailed FW to find out why you cant order the heavy mortar squad set..

They replied..

Hi,
*
*********** Thanks for your e-mail. We have recently altered the way in which our Heavy Weapons squads are sold, due to a significant amount of feedback received from customers who did not want to receive one of each team as was the case with the squads.
*
*********** As such, you can now choose the exact teams you wish to use from the three available, rather than being forced to have one of each as was the case with the squads.

Finally getting back to hobby time again. Here's a quick VERY WIP shot of my FW Hellhound. Started on the rest of my Engineers also. More progress on them soon. Hopefully making it to Salute where I hope to pickup some more tasty Krieg stuff...

Glad you're back buddy. Hope everything's cool at home.

Looking very nice! Always loved that FW hellhound. (Is it the Artemia pattern or the Graia?)

And 'HELLWIP', lol!

Thanks Sir!
Thinks are a better now.
Its an Artemia Pattern. Need to work on weathering. Also want to redo the BaneBlade at some point. Not liking my paintjob much at all. Been reading through the FW Masterclass Book, there's a few things I want to try. Also want to pickup a spraygun!

In order to make up for some lost time I had an idea.... I'm working nights and at the weekends there is normally some free time between tasks. I packed up a few paints, brushes and minatures and made my way to work. During the gaps in my workload I managed to get these done! During the week my workload is heavy but when working weekends I'm thinking of making this a regular thing.

This pic is of 10x Engineers and 1 Troop Sergeant. Need to base them and paint the Enginners "back packs" and do a few bits of detail.. but not bad for a nights work
