Ok, so finished putting together the last 5 Engineers I have. Will be getting more in the future. As these seemed to be limited by a certain number of poses, I thought I would take my knife to them. Oh, and one of them had a badly cast hand and shotgun that had warped and just looked like a jagged resin shape. So no shotgun for him, added instead a grenade launcher to his pack.. yes I know they can't have them, it will count as a shotgun, unless I play someone who won't be bother. Other pic is of a second hand Daemon Prince that I pulled apart, Stripped and put together again with a little TLC. Bargain at £5!!

Thank you my friend. I'm really enjoying working on the Engineers. Even though I have been painting alot of them I'm not getting bored. Where as the normal line troops, after I get through 5 I need to work on something else for a while before I return. As engineers are troop choices I might get a load more of them so would have an option of an Engineer army "For those occasions when Shotguns are the way to go!" Not to mention a few more Hades Drills! When I get these mofo's painted will post a nice group shot as I know you love em'

Very nice work as always Regnak. And you should put Tretch in a trench, I'm sure he'd feel at home in the mud.

Thanks,

I'm off to Salute in London and hope to return with some more Death Korps Goodness Updates later... HOPEFULLY!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Well, FW seemed to leave the goodstuff at home! Grrrrrrr! I said "I'd like one of each Death Rider Please" He said "Sorry, we didn't bring those." I then said "Can I have a Mole Launcher". He said "Sorry, we didn't bring those either"??! Weird. Weird indeed. So I ended up getting some Grenadiers and the Chaos Dwarf show model. And then when I came home I ordered ALL the Death Riders.

As I mentioned recently I'm working on another Engineer squad and am finding it enjoyable painting the Engineers in the scheme I have chose for them. I have got 22 in total (so far) and haven't even got a little bored or put off working on them. The scheme on them takes alot longer than my normal line troops. The funny thing is it doesn't feel like it. When I am painting my line troops I get through around 5 and then can't face doing any more for a while and thats when I swap over and work a little on my Skaven before returning back to the line troops. I still very much love the DKOK and am kicking myself when I don't use free time to work on them. Then I got thinking..... How about trying the scheme for my engineers on one of the line troops as a test. So I slapped some paint on (a very quick paint job) a test subject and really liked the look of him. I haven't attacted his equipment or other shoulder pad yet and there are a few mistakes here and there but hopefully this give you an impression of what I have in mind. I have lined him up with one of the current troops so you can see how it compares.

This is where you guys come in. I'd like your honest... brutal opinions in this scheme as there is a possiblity that I would go over all the ones I have done so far before I get too far ahead with the old scheme. The thing that I'm worried about the most is them being too close to doubleT's "Muddy Times" Krieg. I have gone with a different shade of green, more of a German olive green with brown armour and my normal gas mask colour but want to see what you guys and he think.... to proceed or not to proceed..

Thanks as always guys..

Regnak

Proceed! Your "new" scheme really looks good! Not too close to mine. And I really like your lighter color for the masks and the slight brown touch on the armour / helmets. The left / old scheme is very plain whereas the new one has a lot more depth and contrast.

Sometimes I think I should try some other schemes, too. But I'm afraid to come up with something better and I end up having to change all my minis ...

edit: The piece of resin on the barrel of the gun on the left guy is not ment to stay there ...

Haha, I failed to see that bit of resin!

I really wanted to know your opinion before proceeding as I really like your DKOK and didn't want these to come across as copies. Will work on these over next weeks and see how they turn out. Thanks again man

I like the original scheme because it looks more grim and bleak.

Much as i hate to make people do extra work (! ) I think i prefer the 2nd scheme.

That said, how about having different coloured platoons or something??

I like the 2nd scheme as well, but I think you could get away with both as suggested by Vitruvian. Maybe some of them just have newer coats from home, while everyone else has been cleaning theirs out in the field, washing out the color over time?

Thanks,

Nah its fine... bring on the work!
Not as bad as you may think. As the trousers, wraps, boots and gasmasks are already painted its a case of carefully painting the helmets, armour and coats again. Second scheme is really growing on me alot also. Just started on one of my Heavy Bolter teams Looking at the Grenadiers in the Centaur though, that might be a pain as Id have to pull it apart to get them all out. I may do what you suggested and have them as a different colour? Oh and soon the Krieg will have some 4legged support in the form of Death Riders... one of each!

I think of all the units, the Grenadiers would have most cause to be differently attired. Also, i would advise against it if it meant damaging that beautiful Centaur!

Mmmm, Death Riders, love those crazy mutant horses

Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!

The 2nd colour scheme seems pretty good to me... I'd make the whole model darker, but that's just my opinion.

Keep the force different schemes, the fluff could say that the unit is in the process of being re-fitted, but due to their front line nature most of the new supplies/clothing hasn't made it through yet.

Either way, both schemes look great.

What color are you going to do the horses? I think you should go for something really unique, like tiger stripes or something, only in midtone greens and browns.

Like so, only a tad darker:

I really like the fact that you have differentiated color schemes! Please keep it that way! It adds diversity to your army that looks really good.

Uniforms are not always uniform. German field uniforms could differ quite a bit actually. Fresh squads might match perfectly, but composite veteran squads would be another story.

I like the idea of subtle variations between all the uniforms. Enough to make each few models unique, whilst all still tying together.
