Nice trompe l'oeil. Freehand is stellar! Lenses are fantastic. This is an absolutely gorgeous model!

Maledictus- The first and only dreadnought i ever painted. he was a blast to paint, too bad he seemed to enjoy shooting at his comrades more than the enemy.

For Furiosos, do you guys buy the Venerable and Ironclad or just get FW claws? and is it worth it?

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

For me I used one venerable dread and converted the force weapon from the heavy weapon arm. Saying that I did buy 3 venerables and 2 ironclads to build the remaining 2 furiosos i haven't painted with fist hands from the venerable and arms from the ironclad. All those additional weapons have been used on my stomraven conversion (inc the hurricane bolters), and most of the other bits too.

These are probably the two loudest dreads I've ever seen. They're pretty cool, the conversion work is skilled, and the paintjobs are nice, but goddamn are they noisy.

Samus_aran115 wrote:Looks great henners! Did you do it over a basecoat of white? I've heard DA look great over white.

Technically the "basecoat" is Red Gore, since he was a Blood Raven Dreadnought formerly xD

But yes, I've experimented with white on some things, DA Green is great for achieving toning when it's applied over white: So if you're doing an inconsistent surface like a tabard or robe, applying slightly watered down DA green over a white basecoat leads to some nice(ish) results

I tend to use a black undercoat on most things though, I like "Dark" Angels after all...

There are some gorgeous dreadnoughts in this thread. Thanks

My Death Guard Dreadnought...modelled in the days that Daemonic Possession was actually a vehicle upgrade for dreadnoughts. His hobbies include shooting his comrades and occasionally obliterating the enemy.

Made from a plastic dread (melted with a lighter), forge world arms, Great Unclean One head, Great Unclean One arm (model from the 80's), cocktail sticks, green stuff, guitar wire and typhus' nurgling. Rust was made using mixed herbs put in rust coloured paint.

i like them, just one minor critique:

on the first pic the midlle one... the one side is rather flat and for my taste could get some more detail shown...some use of bits... i know its probably sealed by now but, well...

otherwise great art man,

cheers mate, vik

OK, time for some Orky silliness. Back in the day when LoS was not an issue I cobbled together some bits to make a Killa-Kan...except the poor git didn't have the teef to make a proppa job ov it.
While the base (40mm) is no longer suitable for a Kan and people would have serious "modelling for advantage" issues, I could probably use this as a Nob with Ard Armor or even a MegaNob.

I was thinking of adding a few things to them. Maybe I will look around in my wolf bits. Maybe add more fur to the ones that didn't get any.

Thanks Samus, I'm such a slow painter that when I finally finish a figure I feel the need to post it on at least two blogs in order to get my time's worth out of it! Luckily the dakka gods (Legoburner, Fraz, the mods) are merciful...

I do love this particular thread though... probably my favorite show off thread. People put so much passion into their dreadnoughts... fun to see.
