I now have so much faith in him I charge him headlong into the biggest thing he can feasibly take out, relying purely on sheer luck and my propaganda that I spread about him before each game. I had a 20-man 2,000 point squad, and the scout sergeant with three men. My opponent shot everything he had at the scouts. sometimes I rely on subtlety, sneaking him round the board edge pretending like he is an afterthought and then bam!- there goes your basilisk/commander/farseer/battlewagon. worst failed tactic I used was forgetting about my 5 plasma cannon devastators for three turns. against an ultramarine terminator calgar spam list. sounds like that sergeant is EPIC... Charged a lone slaaneshi daemon prince at an\5 man ork boyz squad with nob IN COVER... *wait i have grenades, umm yeah* he died pitifully
Assaulted 5 thunderwolf cavalry with 8 khorne berzerkers, lost 2 zerkers, won combat by 2 and actually made the cavalry break and run off the edge.
Charged a dreadknight with a defiler thinking, "meh, i'll at least get a couple wounds on him".... couldn't have been more wrong
Tried to have Abaddon w/5 termies assault a hive tyrant..... "proxysm does what, oh WTH its Abaddon" .... 2 rounds later and 2 's rolled for daemon weapon attacks Abaddon goes down

Armored company is an underpowered list with the recent update to it.
and a Transport wouldn't help a Multi-melta as its a heavy weapon(can't fire out of a moving vehicle)

Is it even possible to glance a Monolith to death? You can immobilize it, and any subsequent weapon destroyed/immobilized results merely strip -1 from the D6 flayer shots right?
So you would need a minimum of 7 rounds of combat to immobilize and then strip the flayer to -6 shots, and even then I don't know if it would become a wreck.
I may have to call shenanigans on that.

Ork Admiral Kroozin Da Kosmos on Da Hulk
|
Stupid tactic countered by even more stupid tactic:
During the "Return to Armageddon"-campaign at my local GW store, the battle for northern hive hades was split by a river and our side featured a super-heavy company(8 bane blade variants total) supported by lots of DOA blood angels as defenders against a huge horde of Evil Sunz and Bloodaxe Orks supported by an artillery regiment from Van Strahlens renegade companies.
The core of the super-heavy company was a Shadowsword formation, which included some Sentinels and Leman Russ which would be destroyed instead of the Shadowsword losing structure points. So I flank-marched a formation of 30 Deff Kopas right next to the Shadowsword, shot 30 twin-linked rokkits at it, and then proceeded to assault it with a suicide attack which is a special ability given to the formation(1+d6 S6 attacks each, kopta dies on a roll of '1'). I destroyed all Sentinels and one Leman Russ out of three, immobilized the shadowsword, destroyed its main gun and shook most other weapons, but failed to destroy it.
On their turn, the shadowsword shut down to repair itself and close to every other weapon in range shot the deff koptas, dropping them one by one, until no more than ten were left. Out of options and really afraid of rokkits so close to the rear of super-heavy tank, a banesword turned around and fired its S9 AP3 10" ordinance barrage weapons at the koptas and scattered - killing all koptas and hitting the shadowsword with the hole. The hit penetrates, and destroys the main weapon of the other tank, which was just repaired, again. The shadow sword never got to fire it's destroyer cannon again.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

Let's see...
I had 6 firewarriors take down a pair of Lictors in CC, one after the other. That was entertaining, but not much of a choice as they'd jumped me and not vice versa.
I charged a mob of 20 shoota boys with 4 fenrisian wolves. I lost one wolf in the initial round of combat, but I killed 3 boys, winning the combat. Too bad they were fearless...
I once ran a 1500 point 80 man marine list that included a Devastator squad nine men strong with NO heavy weapons. They were literally there just to be 9 guys with bolters that deployed before anything else in my army. Typically they staked out my DZ's frontline, ensuring I wouldn't be pushed back on table quarter games (it used to be, we oscillated deployment between players, each dropping a unit working through their army one FOC selection at a time.)

|
Luckiest I've ever had was a single pathfinder in cover take multiple (2+) battle cannon template hits, surviving despite the horrible squishy deaths of his comrades without going to ground, and subsequently lighting up the enemy hammerheads for shoosting (It was balanced out by broadsides with S10 AP1 guns rolling crap for penetration though...)
Best tactic I ever tried was markelighting the hell out of 2 squads of vanilla tac marines camping on an objective in cover ~9" from the board edge. TL Missiles to cause the min wounds for a morale check, and everyone always forgets the lights can drop Ld. Needless to say, 2 full tac squads were reduced to about 5 or 6 marines each, and scampered off the board.
Worst tactic was charging an Ethereal out of difficult terrain (Previously his ride) and into an assault marine squad...

I just started playing GK. First game was against BA lead by Mephiston. I had a 6 man purifier squad assault him and then forgot completely about the psykout grenades which drops psykers to an initiative of 1. Couple that with 18 I6 S4 attacks from power weapons and I'm pretty sure I would have had one dead Mephiston. As it was we went two rounds and I took off a wound. His hood held up against my guys turning on their halberds to get the ID. And I had a perils of the warp on the first roll so I lost a guy.
