I just played throw the smurf demo and I'm not too impressed.

1. While the game runs nicely map layout is completely boxed and you never atually get to see larger areas or view distances.

2. Art style is crap. Grey, brown and more grey isn't very interesting. The second nob encounter happens in low lit corridor tinting the entire scene blueish grey. This isn't any better when you have to look indusrial scenery all the time.

3. no aa with low resolution textures

4. Menus, cutscenes and hud is messed up. I get this really anoying streching.

5. orks don't sound like orks. I also found sounds generally unsatisfying.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

I take it you didn't actually bother adjusting the game's settings?

Hmm, I think the art-style is very reminiscent of Dawn of War, sorry you don't like it, but thankfully its only your opinion.

Try updating your graphics driver then. I had no such problem and I use an oddball widescreen resolution.

Double you tee eff.

Are you running a multimonitor setup?

AFAIK the game does not have eyefinity support. It never claimed to.

Seems pretty official to me.

Go post on the official forums' technical support section then. Maybe you screwed up somehow, or maybe it's a real bug that they need to fix.

So I just finished both levels on the PS3 demo and it's pretty good for a console game, the frame rate was fairly smooth most of the time. I really, really didn't like using the jet pack with a controller though, it felt really cumbersome.

The question isn't why do I kill. The question is, why I don't kill everybody.

I just played the demo on my PS3, I'm really not that impressed either. To be fair, I figured the game would be 'meh' for a while now, actually playing it confirmed it. The controls are somewhat clunky, gameplay is definitely a hack and slash button masher, and the orks don't sound like orks at all (to the extent that it took me a good 5-10 mins to realize that the voices I were hearing WERE orks and not marines...). Might pick it up down the line, but its not going to be a must have for me anymore.

What.

I mean, I understand the complaints about the Ork voices needing to be Orkier, but that's just ridiculous. How the hell can you confuse the voices for the Space Marine voices? They sound NOTHING alike!

They do to the extent that they both sound like humans with English accents (when they speak, when they grunt it sound proper Orky), and that they both utilize correct grammar and proper pronunciation. Besides that, last I checked, not everyone sounds the same...

... nnnoooo, the Orks don't. They clearly say "'umies" for example, and their "correct grammar" is only correct because it's small blurbs and combat chatter like "KILL DEM SPESS MUHREENS!".

And you hear all three Marines' voices. They don't sound like the Orks at all.

Still... At least some of the Orks should be more guttural. Would it really have been so difficult for them to have run the Ork voice files through an audio filter to lower their pitch an octave?

I don't disagree. Just saying it's pretty easy to tell Orks from Marines.

Two things I've learned from Dr. Who and Xbox Live is that people from the UK can have vastly different accents despite the small size of the island nation and that apparently there is something wrong with Cardiff (although the doctor wasn't specific about what exactly). It's perfectly fine to have both Orks and Space Marines both have English accents as they can be easily distinguished if chosen correctly. From the limited speech in the trailers and various playthrough videos of the demo, I don't see any problem with telling the two apart in practice as well as theory. If anything, I find the DOW ork voices particularly abrasive and annoying as I'm finally playing through that series (I know... I'm behind the times regarding 40k PC games...)

Yeah, its easy. The Orks are proper full on cockney and the Space Marines speak posh English. I dont think of that as an English accent though, because really posh rich people speak like the Queen no matter where they are from, be it Australia, USA or Canada!

Pretty easy to tell apart, but the Orks could be a bit more guttural cockney, like the Orks on the DOW games.

I liked these guys! Its the same cockney accent, but they sound a tad more Orky.

So, I've played through the demo on PS3 several times, and I have to say I think it's pretty awesome. Switching from CC to shooting was pretty streamilned...The first time I used the jump pack I wasn't a big fan, but once I got used to it, I really liked it. Fighting Nobs was pretty tough, especially when there are 5-10 Boyz trying to smack you with their Choppas. I found the NPC's were pretty dumb, but sometimes provides a distraction. I'll also agree that the Orks in general didn't sound Orky enough, but it's not a big deal...I also liked the inclusion of the Servo Skulls with the audio tracks (I love little side missions like that). The IG flashlights made me chuckle too

tl;dr - I loved errthang other than the friendly NPC's and the Ork voices. I can't wait for MOAR!

It takes those IGs that ride the elevator up SOO many shots to kill just one ork, pretty hilarious. Sound effect seems just right for Lasguns too.

Exactly! I just remember saying "WTF are those red things???" and that's when I realized the IG showed up...I actually stunned a Choppa Boy and just watched at they shot at it...doing nothing LOL

I actually like the sound effects from all the guns, especially the Stalker Pattern Bolter
