You're doing it wrong. You shouldn't be grinding unless it's for upgrade materials, really, and even then, most of those can be bought.

Hell, exp gains were doubled from back when the game was first released, so you're technically overlevelled already.

Well, this is certainly interesting:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-01-11-dark-souls-dlc-in-the-works-report

http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/exclusive-dark-souls-dlc-exists-coming-soon/

I could quite happily play this game and no others all year, so anything that could expand it sounds good to me. If there is to be a new area, I trust the developers not to just make a hasty cash-in.

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

It will seem like a grind fest, but eventually you'll reach a point where you can either farm souls, or you'll be good enough at the game that you'll only need get your souls from killing bosses.

Those articles are ancient, and we already now know that the rumours were actually the release of a PC version of the game, which is fantastic. The developers already said they had no interest in DLC.

Looks like I stand corrected. Someone told me this morning that the "Dark Forest" DLC had been confirmed in a Eurogamer article as a whole new campaign area with two bosses and it seems in my enthusiasm I didn't bother to check the facts or dates.

Unless, of course, your grinding for what weapon you want (Need to buy it), but that only comes up in certain builds that REQUIRE certain weapons, and even then it's not much of an issue, as most weapons are incredibly cheap.

Alright, much less of a grind now. The problem was that I kept dying on the Taurus demon, which meant I had to kill all of the undead to get there, got to the demon, reclaimed all my souls, and died. There was a stockpile of about 7k souls when I finally beat him, only to lose them all by falling off a cliff right after dying.

Ah, the Taurus Demon, one of the two fights of that game that caused soooo many people to return the game. Just wait until you get to the Capra Demon, after that your Home Free*.

Also, the Taurus Demon was my favorite fight, as I didn't realize you could cheap him out. Took me 2/3 hours to beat him my first time, and it's the only boss I've ever foughten that I actually jumped up shouting "GUESS WHAT?!? GUESS! I JUST OWNED YOU! WHOSE THE MAN? I'M THE MAN!"

I was pumped full of adrenaline after that.

* These two fights are the hardest for beginners simply because of how early the are in the game and how cheap they are, relatively. Don't get disheartened.

I'm at the Capra demon now. He slaughtered me 5 seconds after I walked in, so I'm just helping other people to kill him in order to get humanity.

Every single time I've fought capra demon, I've die twice. First time, I forgot about the dogs and get caught up. Second time I get killed by capra as I fight the dogs. Then I realized that what you do is run to the left, roll as much as possible, then go up on the little balcony to the right of the stairs. If you go in the corner, the dogs will come, and you kill them. Then it's just about killing the Capra. Easiest way is to 2 hand your weapon, then kill him after he drops off the balcony the same way as the taurus demon.

Dude! What if Rab didn't want to know the easy way?

Spoilered for Slargs Method of Maniacal Manslaughter:

Spoiler:
Easiest way of doing it, IMHO, is to buy a single Charcoal Resin from the Female Undead Merchant, use it on your weapon before, let all three swarm you and swing once, killing the two dogs in one hit. Naturally, you need a swinging weapon to do this. Then it's just a matter of dodging Cap's attacks.

Make sure to remember how hard he is, you eventually fight Capra's as a standard enemy.

They are easier later on (because you don't fight them in a stupid, claustrophobic area); the only hard thing about it is you have to fight two of them at a time at some parts. Oh, and a proper mage build will destroy Capra. I killed him with three Soul Spears. Way easier than melee. What's really fun is blowing through all the Taurus demons in the area below where you fought Ceaseless Discharge. Killing them in two shots makes me smile.

Does anyone have any tips for Gravelord Nito? He always kills me in two hits, not to mention the annoying swarms of skeletons that surround him.

How is a new player supposed to get ahold of Soul Spear?

Nito is a push over once you realize one thing; his own attacks hurt those skeletons that surround him. I think Nito is the only boss I didn't die at least once to in the game. Basically, just run around the center pillar until you get to one side of him, smack him two/three times, and then run around to the other side of the pillar. Soul Spears/Soul Arrows work wonders as well, as long as your not surrounded by Skeles.

Jolly coop on Capra has netted me about 10 humanities and 26k souls(lost half though). I love the online on this game.

Look it in the eyes while your sword drinks it's blood, and feel it's power become one with you. You have been baptised in your enemies blood, and you shall never forget this day.

Would I be better off going for a +10 upgrade on my zweihander now, or a +5 divine later?

+10, because you can enchant it, or upgrade it to lightning. Also, Gaping Dragon is a pushover once you figure out it's attack patterns.

They ring both bells, and then free logan, kill Moonlight Butterfly, then unlock Forest Coveneant area, then kill Sif and buy Soul Spear. Then kill the Capra Demon. It's quite easy.

I will keep that in mind next time I fight him; I just need to dedicate an hour or two to just killing him. After that, it's the damned Bed of Chaos. God, I hate that thing. It'd be an extremely easy fight if it wasn't such a cheese-fest. Still, this has to be one of my favorite games this gen.

In case you haven't seen it, Rab, there is a pattern forming here

Never thought of that. If they didn't want newer players to buy Soul Spear, they shouldn't have made it so easy to find

BoC was probably the worst fight in the game, honestly; there was literally nothing to it, and I don't know about anyone else, but I got no adrenaline rush or anything fighting that boss.

I agree. The only part that annoys me is that I killed one of the stupid circles, but can't get to the other because of the stupid swipes and the falling floor. I am not a fan of these event driven fights; Ceaseless Discharge was also stupid (easy, but so very stupid.)

Bed of Chaos is easily the worst fight of the game, and Lost Izalith is easily the worst part of the entire game.

As for Bed of Chaos itself, just quit/reload after you break one of the circles, and you'll restart outside the boss room. It's the easiest way to do it. It's not exactly fair, but considering how bad BoC is...

I had no issues with the whole Lost Izalith area. I find it quite easy; just ignore the big stompy things, and you're golden. Once I activated the elevator, it was a breeze. I haven't explored much in that area though, I fell down a pit and got eaten by giant grinder things. As for BoC, I already destroyed one of the circles; easiest thing ever. It's the second circle that sucks. Then I just have to run down the roots and kill it's heart.

Yeah, Chicken Legs were really the only thing scary in that level unless you fell down into the open maw of one of those tentacle monsters. I think the only two things of note in Izalith was the Ember you got in the Sewers and the infinite Demon Titanite farm.

You can tell that From didn't really put much effort into Lost Izalith, and likely rushed the hell out of it for release because not only are there only 3 enemies in the entire area, one of them is just the legs of a zombie dragon standing upright, and there is no decent loot to pick up in the entire area.

Really though, whoever thought walking on lava would be a good idea should be fired.
