Thanks man! You must have blessed Canada Post with unnatural speed because the boarding shields showed up this very morning. Overall I am very happy with the finished product, the details are incredibly fine and there is no warping or faults that I can see. I may have to give them a light sanding to smooth them out a little but that was to be expected. Also they smell very strongly of marzipan which is quite pleasant...
I gave one a quick wash of badab black to try and bring out the details but inverting the colours in photoshop does a much better job of it. I'll try and post a few pics of them on marines later today!
Here is the render for reference and the linky to the product https://www.shapeways.com/product/WWZQ26J2J/10x-scarab-legion-marine-shields-variety-pack?optionId=60878555&li=marketplace

I know I love 'em! They look way better in person as well.
I quickly assembled a few of them to get a feel for how they look. The size matches perfectly and the shape of the shields has a really nice Egyptian vibe to them.

Seeing as everyone (myself included) wants to see what these shields look like painted this squad has moved to the very front of the paint pile! Got the entire squad built up a few minutes ago and I love how they look. The shields do restrict the amount of poses you can achieve but if anything it just forced me to explore some different posing options and a little bit of chopping and swearing later I have a decently diverse looking team... I figured that a flamer would be a good special weapon to add to the squad as breachers would usually end up in tight corridors, perfect for blasting fire down. Weather permitting (haha, this is Canada, what am I saying??) I would like to get outside and spray a basecoat onto these guys tomorrow and see what I have to work with. A bunch of freezing rain is supposed to show up on Tuesday so I'll have no choice but to stay inside and paint! Really appreciate all the comments you folks are leaving, it is great motivation to keep going at a good pace!

Alrighty, finally got some decent weather to spray on a basecoat on these guys!
After letting them dry off I gave them a few basic colours to plan out how they would look.
I also got a little carried away and all but finished painting one marine. Hope you like him! First time I have used transfers since Battle for Macragge, they've really improved haha
I will take some better pictures soon but it was 3:00 am when I took these so natural light was pretty scarce....
Here's a good look at the shield. As you can see it looks a little textured but that is because the image is so large. In real life it is not noticeable.
Hope to get the rest of the squad painted up in short time

Thanks guys!
I have been slugging away at the rest of the squad today and managed to get half of them done (I paint slow...). They are coming along nicely though!
Quick question about the sergeant. I was going to make his stripes white and red but thought it may make him look too much like a barber. Honestly I quite like white and grey as a combo. Thoughts? Any other colour combos that might look good?
Should have the whole gang done by tomorrow night, hopefully I can get them based and everything if Tzeentch smiles upon me

I demand pictures as soon as you get started on that army War Kitten! Very brave of you doing a white army, the little specks of it I have to paint onto my TSons are a nightmare! Also it may be a bit premature but the same creator I got my boarding shields from also makes these which you may be interested in...
JustaerinAtTheWall wrote:I like the grey-white combo, everything's lookin' crisp! I'm especially liking the use of the Lychguard blades, very thematic!
Thank you! I'm really glad I picked up that Necron set, it's chock full of bits that I can use for my army and I prepossessed the bodies for some creepy mechanicum constructs
The breacher squad is totally complete minus a few spots I noticed in editing. Super happy with them! My paint scheme has somehow gotten quite a bit darker since last I painted anything but I think I prefer it anyway. Thanks everyone for the encouragement to finish these fellas off, it really sped me up haha.
Arranging them in a triangle has me tempted to make a spartan themed army with rows upon rows of phalanxes. I do love me a good phalanx...
Next up I think I will finish off the landspeeder that has been sat on my desk for a month now. After that maybe a unit of tartaros termies...

It's a minor thing but well done drilling those barrels, those guns give me cold sweats with the small nozzle for fear of blowing the barrel.

Thanks! Yeah those barrels were scary. So far I only destroyed one but fortunately I had a dozen spare ones somehow
I tried to finish off the landspeeder today but discovered that due to its weight, I could not base it the same way I have the rest of my models. Tomorrow I'm gonna try to sculpt a column of some kind for it to sit its fat fuselage on!
Still might touch up some spots paintwise as well. I'm not happy with the white sections (maybe some freehand is needed?) and the transfers haven't blended in as well as I would like. Still, progress is progress!
Anyway, I'm running late for work so I shall return tomorrow!

So FW just showcased a bunch of their upcoming HH models and believe it or not they they had to go and make TSons mechanicum didn't they?
While it's too late to modify my own Castellan robot, his big brother whom I also own is still ripe for some conversion to look a little like this. I am a little scared about hacking at such a beautiful (and expensive) model!
I think I may try to add some nice claws and maybe do something with the head as well. Any thoughts on how else I could Egyptify him?
It will be nice to switch to my alt-future mechanicus for a bit anyway. You can only look at so many space marines before going a little crazy!

Pssh, just get some anyway for painting!
As usual I got massively side tracked and found some TSons bits that fit nicely on my flyer (I forget the name, I call it the Thunder Chicken).
Now it has some cool looking doors and some plasticard symbols on it. Paintjob is still a little choppy but then I think I just need to get used to painting larger models. I might just patch up the gold sections and then call it finished.
To give you all an idea of how many projects I have on the go, here is a shot of my desk. It features stuff like 3 tactical squads, a Mantis Warrior, a sculpting project, some mechanicus stuff, a bag of fake gold (for basing), a Spanish piece of eight, and a few assorted Roman coins taking a bath in some olive oil. I think it is safe to say that I have a little bit too much on the go...
Up next: who knows!? Probably nothing on that desk
