Wonder if the army will continue any of those greek themes, or if it was just for the teaser. I'd pay good coin for some mythos inspired armies

The Greek theme actually makes a sort of sense. First, obviously, there's the medusa, which was a monster from Greek mythology. Second, the Witch Aelves have more than a passing resemblance to the Maenads, female worshippers of Dionysus who, while under a euphoric enraged madness induced by his influence, were known to literally tear people apart.

Is the news so far only for something involving Dark Elves? I'm not huge into AoS or follow the rumors, but a part of me was hoping for some High Elves to return in AoS!

The news so far is just the video linked earlier. That video contains Slaaneshi daemons, Witch Aelves, and Medusae. And it has a voice over that's probably Morathi.

This is intriguing, I haven't bought into AoS yet, I adored the Kharadron Overlords and even they weren't enough. But this could potentially be interesting...can't say though until I see the models..that's the most important thing to me.

Agreed. Definitively this is interesting and has potential. I loathed AOS at first, but with 40k being so boring lately, I'm open to a change of heart, and greek themed snake elves could be the push I need

can t she be Isha? Isha brought the civilization to the eldars I believe, and opposed to Khaine. I know we are speaking of age of sigmar here but I believe mythologies are quite similar...

It's possible. But the images show Slaaneshi daemons fighting Khainites. Isha's not affiliated with either group, and there's nothing within the video itself that would seem to connect with her.

So I wonder if GW actually make new witch elves with long blade (blade dancer?) or it's just the clip depict them that way.

Looks like they are going full Greek. Gorgons, Harpies, Hoplites, and as mentioned above Witch Elves being Maenads. Hopefully the Hydra will find its way in as well. Looks like they will also be all female and led by a new Morathi.

This fills in the elves from the realm of shadow rumors. I am curios to see how their cousins from the realm of light turn out.

Also wonder if this will stop the (already very flawed) claims from people that TKs were only ended and not coming back (even though they are in the fluff) "because Egypt". Probably not.

Since one part of the rumour is correct the other Elves will (probably) be Water monster riding Elf.

I hope the faction is more than just Greek Elves. GW have been pushing out some really good original content as of late, no need to fall back on the historical crutch.

Neither of the two AOS elves released for Silver Tower look particularly Greek? The Witch Elves

I am thinking maybe some variation around the Medusae, a Morathi figure (crossed fingers) and maybe another unit or two but not much more.

Some cavalry witch Elves would be fun.

Really digging the Greek vibe, can't wait to see what's in store.

Especially with my Greek themed freeguilds, I can see a rather nice alliance coming along.

The CoB has Greek themes, but I don't think you can really describe it as "just" Greek themed. This release will probably be similar

I'm really, really hyped for this release. I love DoK as an army and medusae and Witches are my favorite units in AoS...

Can't wait to see what GW has in store for them.

Only thing is... from an old piece of lore, I remember Morathi being a follower of Slaanesh, and not of Khaine, so, as weird as this might be, I am thinking there's a tiny, minuscule chance t might be Hellebron... But it simply could be Morathi being "redeemed", as it fits the theme much better...

The mythologies aren't only similar, there is direct continuity with old Warhammer Fantasy.

For that reason I think Isha is unlikely because Alarielle herself incarnated in the Mortal Realms as its feral barefoot life goddess. Plus, I don't think anyone would describe Isha as a 'demigoddess' anyway.

The fall series paints her as trying to use the gods to her advantage and being the head cultist of the dark patheon of Elvish gods. While Hellebron was the high priestess of Khaine and while Morathi didn't worship him primarily I can see her reference to a dead god (almost all of the patheon is dead at this point). Either way this could be super damn cool. And there can be zero doubt it's Morathi since she got ate by Slaanesh during the endtimes and snakey imagery is his daemon thing.

Morathi created the Cauldrons of Blood, which are used by the Witch Elves in the worship of Khaine. So while she wasn't one of Khaine's most ardent supporters, it's also incorrect to say that she completely ignored him.

More than that, she's the only Elf we know of that was eaten directly by the Dark Prince.

Ehhh...they weren't created strictly for the worship of Khaine.

They were created so that she had a leash over the Khainites. Remember that she controlled who had access to them and their regenerative powers. It was a point of contention between her and Hellebron and was even why Hellebron was called "The Hag Queen". She wasn't allowed access to to 'whole' of their magical powers.

That, and Morathi kept the best one for herself. Unlike Hellebron, her beauty and youth never faded.

All the gods were thought dead and many were not - so there is the possibility that Khaine (and others) will reappear - as have many entities already.

Reedemed Morathi? That's a hard concept to get behind.

Hyped to the point where my main concern is none of my friends play AoS.

On the other hand a bit concerned it might not be as great as I imagine. New Morathi is basically guaranteed - but as I see it everything else in the video could be an existing model. Not sure on how the Sprue Works - but just releasing individual Medusae from the Cauldron/Wrack model might be possible.

Then again I can't believe they would release Morathi with out at least 2-3 boxes to go with her. Hoping for reveals this weekend.
