The references to Slaanesh are interesting. Is it possible they could have Morathi usurp Slaanesh and fold the DoK and the Hosts of Slaanesh into one faction? If GW combine DoK and Slaanesh, which the video seems to be hinting at, and add in a few new models they would have a "new" good-sized faction without having to produce a whole bunch of new models. Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Chopstick wrote:Since one part of the rumour is correct the other Elves will (probably) be Water monster riding Elf

Personally I won't be holding my breath on that one. Two new aelf factions is probably too much to hope for, and despite the persistent rumours of sea-themed cthulu aelves I don't see any evidence that this is something GW was ever actually planning to do. I could be wrong, but haven't all the rumour-engine images that people claimed were sea-aelves turned out to be other things? It seems like people have seen what GW did with the Kharadon Overlords (SKY DWARVES!) and assumed that SEA ELVES! are the next logical step.

I'd be happy to be proven wrong on this one because sea-themed cthulu aelves would be the most awesome thing ever. Hell, I'd be happy with just a couple of new Scourge Privateer models.

On the other hand a bit concerned it might not be as great as I imagine. New Morathi is basically guaranteed - but as I see it everything else in the video could be an existing model. Not sure on how the Sprue Works - but just releasing individual Medusae from the Cauldron/Wrack model might be possible.

Then again I can't believe they would release Morathi with out at least 2-3 boxes to go with her. Hoping for reveals this weekend.

I think they pay their sculptors by the hour rather than per model so you should be alright.

I'm guessing Morathi, a couple of other unnamed characters, a 3 man multi build snake person box and an 'elite' 5 man infantry box.
Assuming Doomfire Warlocks are included that would create a decent Sylvaneth sized pool of units and give us a solid summer release that apparently isn't now coming from Death.

In keeping with the Greek theme, I can also see the new faction getting the War Hydra.

Keep in mind that we do have an actual "aelf standing on a tentacle" model. So it's not so "out there" as one might think.

True, you could be right, but it's a very small tentacle and to me seems more like a weird plant or part of a twisted landscape than it does a sea monster. One of the Stormcast Liberator models has a vaguely similar tentacle-like/plant protuberance under foot.

Wouldn't that be a bit of a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul? Order Serpentis only consists of about four models as it it is. Take away the War Hydra and there's not much left.

Looks like they are going full Greek. Gorgons, Harpies, Hoplites, and as mentioned above Witch Elves being Maenads. Hopefully the Hydra will find its way in as well. Looks like they will also be all female and led by a new Morathi.

This fills in the elves from the realm of shadow rumors. I am curios to see how their cousins from the realm of light turn out.

Also wonder if this will stop the (already very flawed) claims from people that TKs were only ended and not coming back (even though they are in the fluff) "because Egypt". Probably not.

I though that greek style fresque could be mostly related to the serpent it can represent. Also there was many serpent like rumour engine lately

A bit, but it's rather obvious that most of these small old factions will eventually fall into bolivia (mike tyson tm)

They're not going to be Chaos unless they're FULLY killing off Slaanesh. Morathi hates Slaanesh after the end times and would KILL any servants of Slaanesh. In fact, the video clearly shows them killing each other.

They could just add a keyword to it so that is could be taken in both allegiances. That's not unprecedented.

Also, the 2nd elf faction we get this year is supposed to be from the realm of light I believe according to the rumors.

And they said from the beginning LoN was just going to be a book, no new models or warscrolls (not even the Herald apparently). But they also said it will be a big year for Death. So maybe after MP wraps up, or closer to Christmas we might get something.

The Lvo seminar will be finished about 21 hours from now ( I'm definitely counting the minutes). GW said on this week's rumour engine that there would be a full rundown of the seminar on Saturday so we may just get reports from attendees till then.

Well yeah it's strange.

I'm almost sure I read a WHTV Facebook post saying to tune in (maybe on twitch with Warhammer live) on Thursday evening - https://lasvegasopen.squarespace.com/blog/2017/12/22/seminars-at-the-lvo-2018

Then the last WarCom article about the LVO (talking about Saturday) could mean they won't do a summary / report until this week end....

Hope we got a WarCom article this night. Or report from people going there.

Morathi might hate Slaaneah but clearly Morathi has also taken on some aspects of Slaaneah. That seems significant. Maybe Morathi kills Slaanesh and becomes a new chaos god, or maybe the daemonettes leave Slaanesh and join order.

So it's Morathi, the voice of (dead) Khaine, who was 'twisted into the form of her tormentor' (slaanesh? something else?)

Why not? Anything is possible, and if they have Morathi become the new Slaanesh it wouldn't be that jarring. The DoK and Slaanesh aesthetics dovetail quite nicely.

If Morathi isn't usurping Slaanesh in some form then the prominence of Slaanesh in the video and the references to her being shaped by Slaanesh seem odd.

Because Morathi doesn't exist in 40K and there is no way GW is getting rid of dual-game range with twice as many customers as most of their boxes?

Look at Nurgle/TSons, multiple fantasy kits were added to 40K lists to broaden their appeal, and now they would do the complete reverse with major range?

Mac I have learned that many people talk about the lore like they have actually read it. I think it will just take GW doing the release for people to stop.

Morathi was an exceptionally vain creature. From what's been said, Slaanesh has twisted her somehow. That's gonna breed a lot of hatred - especially now she's a demi-goddess.

After she escaped, the video says she helped bring about civilisation in the Mortal Realms, and was the first to stand against Chaos.

From slightly hazy memory, they knew the incursion of Chaos was never a question of If, but When.

In the early days, it was all quite easily contained and dealt with. But of course, Chaos is ultimately really quite patient....

They could still do Slaanesh dual releases for 40k if they wanted to, the demon models wouldn't need to change, they would just be complimented by Morathi and DoK in AoS.

Of course it's possible that the Slaanesh figures in the video are just being used as generic enemies and there's no greater significance. But they are featured very prominently which suggests that Slaanesh is going to be very important to what they're doing with Morathi.

Stormcast Eternals and the Undead have been prominentely featured in the Maggotkin Trailer and still they weren't lumped together. Furthermore, the khaine symbolism is equally strong in the Trailer. In conclusion, Slaanesh was added to the trailer for Story reasons and might even bei important to the overall Aelf story. Nothing more, nothing less.

We know for sure we are going to know the fate of Slaanesh this year. When, we have no idea as it was only said "2018". It can be now, it can be in December, we must wait and see.

IMHO, it looks like a glorious return (RIP wallet)

Well both Morathi and her son werer part of Sigmar's Pantheon although only he was named as a protector of a specific Realm. She enjoyed the trappings of civilisaton (like Neferata) and liekly the two of them enjoyed plotting against each other and then meeting up to chat about it every dcade or so - would make a fun short story....

Also intersting that the Daughters of Khaine werer/are allowed to continue their bloody ways in Azyr and didn;t get purgd by Sigmar after the gates shut
