Hey guys,

Here is another tabletop tutorial in HD on how to paint the little lenses thingies on various armour. This is a basic method that looks very good on the table, and is somewhat easy to pull off. I hope someone gets something out of this...

As always, comments, are most appreciated; good or bad; either here or on youtube.

Cheers!

Cat/

Looks nice! I'm getting ready to paint a bunch of these on a Landraider and Rhino and use a similar technique with Dark Angels Green, Snot Green, and Scorpion Green. I also play Crimson Fists and find that the occassional green lens stands out nicely against the other red elements on the model.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Well said Gavin, I completely agree with that! I was going to include the green scheme in the vid but opted to keep it short. Blues is another good one...

Cheers mate and thanks for the comment,

Love your videos Cat, I find them extremely helpful.

Your Crimson Fists stuff is awesome, by the way. How did you make the fist on front of the Whirlwind?

Ummmmm, they are in HD.... I think you might have to double click the video here in dakka to go to the youtube page, there you can access 1080P.

I like your videos. What really helps me is showing the technique on a regular sheet of paper, then going to the model. It's easier for me to visualize when I know the pattern ahead of time then transposing it.

Keep them coming!

Great vid, and I'm sure to try it out someday.
One question with regards to technique (and I'm going to sound like a total painting noob here) and that is; is the paint still wet when you paint on the next layer? Cheers
Great work by the way, I find the vids really useful

In most cases no, the paint is already dry. You could add a "retarding" agent to the paint which will allow you to wet blend the different colours together. Not a noob question at all,

cat.

Ah brilliant, I will definately try this then. I'm not a bad painter, I just don't use even remotley 'advanced' techniques. ie, I have never highlighted a model, drybrushing all the way

Good work, there is a similar tutorial for gems in the old high elves codex. i never thought about using the same method on computer screens though, I'll have to try it on my next Storm Raven.

Another great one, and thanks for giving your recipes for other colors. I'll have to try this if I ever get around to painting my sisters army up.

Cat, I can never see the movies as my work blocks them and at home i only have a pay as you go broadband laptop so I can't watch at home either :-( yet I still click on your thread and read all the comments about your work, would it be possible to ask you to include some images in your posts so i can see some stages and or final result? I don't do a bad lense if i do say so myself! :-) but i just painted 18 of the little buggers on my landraider and it nearly killed me! would have liked to see if your method was any easier!

good work from what i can see! lol
