Hi, I'm Craig, 19 years old and for the UK Just recently got into 40k and have been researching a lot. Sooo I've came to the decision that I should buy the AoBR starter set to get too grips with the game and give my non existent army a boost! But I have one question, do I have to paint the space marines I get in the AoBR set as ultramarines? or can I paint them as a different chapter even though they have that arrow on there arm? Complete noob question but meh' Any other advice will be greatly appreciated!

Hey
Welcome to Dakka!
You can paint your Marines any colour you want Most of the time smurfs are just the example on the box.

Thanks
I have a change of plan, I was originally putting half's to the AoBR boxset with a friend but now they can't do it, so I now have both armies! So which army is better for a starter to play and expand with? Space marines or da orcs?

I´d prefer SM for a beginner. SM are more flexible IMO

Paint them any chapter color you want, it doesn't have to be Ultramarines.
Although if I were you I would look no further than a successor chapter to the Ultramarines! Once you make your own, you never go back.
Ah, I'm such an Ultrasmurfs nerd. Welcome to Dakka!

Welcome!
Crimson fists are a good chapter, but you can paint them however you want, you don't even have to paint them as an existing chapter, you can make one up yourself.
But as I said, Crimson Fists are great anyway.
