So i was wondering wether any of you guys and gals ever fancied just grabbing your whole collection and shipping it to a mates house, just to play a game with no points values involved?. Been pondering this for some time now, and occasionaly i find the points value system a little restrictive. Ok Ok, i know that for fair and even games you MUST use the points system, but just for a weekend dust up with your mates? How about you forget all the points malarky and just get everything you own and pour it all on the table. Then just go at it, have a laugh! If the armys are a little too mismatched then make up some rules, i think some people take the game a little too seriously! What do you guys think, would you be up for that?

Tried it once, didn´t really work and wasn´t that fun.
In the end it will be a one sided game, with a huge advantage for the player who spend the most money on his collection, and it will take to long to play, set up and try to level the field with house rules.

Tried it once.
My clubmates looked at me dirty for a while afterwards.
Me with 27,000 pts of marines and Eldar on the table to their meagre 10,000pts combined.
I had to reserve half of them, as there just was not enough room on the table to deploy them, even on an 8x6.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

Would be interesting, as I generally don't build up armies more than 1500 points.
So probably 1500 Eldar vs something like 5k Blood Angels. Fun.

Points values are there for a reason. Taking out FOC for Apocalypse is fine, but I wouldn't play a game without points values, it would be too unbalanced.

I think a few of you seem to missing the point! You all know roughly how much each of your armies are worth right? All you have to do is chuck everything on the table(s) and very roughly divide them up. How many battles throu history do you think there have been where one general says to another "No. I don't think well fight today, you seem to be at a slight numerical advantage, obviously your knights cost less to equip than mine"...... Would not happen peeps. It's just supposed to be a laugh! Between you and a few like minded friends. If you can't all decide on what would be roughly equal forces, then really don't bother. And besides which, even if you are outnumbered 3-1 there is a certain amount of pleasure in taking as many of the enemy with you ad possible right?

You really sound like you could do with getting the Apocalypse book. The basic idea of it is to get everything you have on the table at once in vaguely even armies and you get stratagems to even out the difference in points.
You'd still have to roughly add up the points of everything and make a list of what has what wargear, but it sounds close to what you're looking for.

I have played a last Stand game before where I had a Few squads of entrenched FW, pathfinders, and such. and my friend who is Tyranid just came at me in incrementing waves, to see how long the line would last. And we used disgarded units as new spawns as well....was a really fun game, of course as soon as he got a mountrous creature out (wave 9 i think) i was soon tumbled.

I've donle it before, ended up being roughly 3k of Dark Angels against 2500 of Sisters. It was fun and fairly close (was a complete newbie at the time against an experienced Sisters player)
