Hey all,

After browsing the site for about half a year now, I finally decided to sign up, my original reason for visiting being to show my brother (A CSM player) some of the extraordinary pieces showcased on these forums.

I've personally not collected since the days when Gorkamorka was released, making me about 7 at the time, and a tad overenthusiastic about daubing everything bright red. A tragic waste of good figures, as I see it now.

So, to the main point of this post. I've decided to begin collecting again, deciding to start a SM army (Chapter as of yet undecided) and learn to play. I'm currently leaning towards Black Templars as a colour scheme, as they were always a chapter that interested me (Stemming from an old copy of White Dwarf, with a bullet-hole ridden BT standing on the eviscerated remains of a comrade). I;'m open to other paint scheme ideas, but am currently wondering if my best choice would be to buy AoBR or to build up a force made from seperate squads etc. At the minute, I've got an odd selection of old metal BA command units (Captain, Tornado Equipped Termy, Scout or two etc) that I'd be repurposing to this new colour scheme, along with an oldschool Rhino.

So, Dakkaheads, Ideas for this prospective player?

My suggestion is to just go with your gut instinct, if you find something you like and it's not miles beyond your ability to paint it, then do it
