I have recently been thinking about adding Huron Blacheart to my chaos army because I like the model, the only problem is I really don't know what he can do on the tabletop. I have never seen him being used and I have no idea how good he is. If anyone could tell me what to do with him or if he is worth taking please tell me. Or if you have used him, whats your experience with him ?

-THIS.

CSM special characters arent all that great. Kharn and Abaddon have there uses, the rest are relatively "meh". People seem to like Typhus, but for 200+ point character that doesnt have EW and is only T4(5) - he gets instagibbed really easy. Fabius, Huron and Freddy Krueger face are very average at the best of times.

Go for a Daemon Prince or a lash sorceror and be down with it.

Use the model, just don't have him count as Huron.

Huron is not a bad HQ. He's by no means the best, but what he offers is being cheap. Now Kharn is not much more points and probably more effective in CC. But, what Huron has is flexibility and reliability. He won't kill your own troops like Kharn will, and believe it or not, a bad roll with Kharn could spell doom for the whole squad (its happened to me). Huron offers you some flexibility with his powerfist or power weapon options, and having the warptime is not shabby either. So he will reliably kill things each turn. Also, his heavy flamer makes hism especially good at killing hoards.

Huron will not wipe out a squad of marines by himself like Abbadon will, nor will he see tomorrow if you throw him at terminators with thunder hammers. You have to have a place for him. Sometimes I write a list where I don't have a lot of points to spend on HQ's. It's up to you really. He is fun and he can be effective if you plan for him correctly. Is he the most competitive model? No. Will you see him at adepticon...i'd wager never.

I don't know, a Warptimed Heavy Flamer is a very nasty peice of work. He certainly isn't bad. Given that none of our HQs give us any real utility, one beat stick is about as good as another.

Stick him in a squad of Chosen with flamers, put 'em in a Rhino, and watch hoard armies cry. Other than that, he's not that good from my experience.

He's not even a good beatstick though. And a Warptimed Heavy Flamer? Come on.

If you want a special character, take Kharn or Abaddon. Everyone else is either overcosted (Lucius, Fabius) or terrible (Huron, Ahriman).

I'd agree with this.
I find it funny when people talk about Abaddon as the uber SC when he's pretty much terrible. Kharn is the #1 competitive choice and I would rank Huron higher then Typhus or Lucius any day.
Against squads that can't insta-kill him, a Warptime Power Fist will take out 3-4 MEQs on the charge and a Warptime Heavy Flamer another 1 assuming 4 hits, thats not total crap.

He isn't at a Daemon Prince level of competitiveness but then again neither is Kharn.

Alright, I'll admit that Abaddon isn't very competitive. Kharn, though, is 15 points *cheaper* than Huron and so much more killy. And considering both of those guys are vulnerable to Meltaguns and Fists, you have to consider the opportunity cost of Huron.

Sure killing 2 marines with Warptimed HF is cool, but how often will that ever happen? All Kharn has to do is get into combat with something.

And about kharn's friendly fire, is it really that hard to unattach him from the squad before you charge? He's going to get singled out by the Powerfist anyway.
