Subject: Looking to get into 40K.

Hello all, I'm new and looking to make the plunge.
I've watched the 40k world from afar and taken every opportunity to immerse myself in the Warhammer worlds without ever playing the actual game (Read the books, played Space Hulk, Chaos in the Old World, Warhammer Invasion etc.).
We'll I'm looking to get into 40k and I have several questions about army selection before I dump some serious coin and time investment. I assure you they're more functional than simply "What's good" and things of that nature.
If someone could please direct me as to the best forum to post those questions in, it would be appreciated.
Thank you for reading this and I look forward to learning a lot more about the game here on Dakka.

Try in overall 40k section.
People are pretty damn helpful there.
Or go and have a look around the painting and modelling section, se what armies people are doing and if any of those peak your fancy, people are normally cool to help you out with what to do.

It depends on what the questions are, if it's to do with how each army plays/works then 40k tactics is probably your best bet.

While it's good to know your stuff before you decide on an army, the general rule as I feel it is buy the one you like the most. That's what I recently did (new 40k player myself) and chose the Necrons (lucky me that just a couple of months later all the rumors of their upcoming update started flowing in all the fora)
So make your choice and enjoy the hobby!!!

Welcome to the Dakka!
Your best bet is to go in the "Tactics" for army building. After making a list, post it on "Army Lists" and people can throw in their ideas.
