So what I am thinking of to go along with my goofy themed army is drop pods that are equally goofy. In the fluff they just ride them down on the outside like bucking broncoes, but I want to do something different. For my marine drop pods I am taking an old rhino, sawing it diagonally and placing it on a plasticard base the same size as a regular drop pod so it looks like it was dropped face first from the sky, sticking into the ground/crater about 5 feet. But dreads cant ride in rhinos.

Anyone have any suggestions on what an alternate dread drop pod could look like. Mabye a giant fist? An unexploded rocket? Mabye something simple like a giant metal crate, wood would be funny too.

Well, their Dreads are so eager to battle that they must as well demand to be chained to the Rhino's outise and be dropped.

Its too bad orks use rocks, a rock the size of a drop pod with chains on it would be pretty funny, especially if it had a storm bolter at the top for some reason. Its gotta be cheaper to produce than space marine drop pods heh, they should take hints from orks. A rock with wings attached and afterburners would be pretty damn funny.

I like darks idea.

Chain the dread to the top of a wrecked rhino as suggested above, or to the top of a pile of vanquished enemies all tied together?

EDIT: make it a power fist shape. Normal human, well proportioned fists would look silly.

Could someone with a drop pod measure the width of the widest parts, im going to make hexigon bases for the rhino crashes and want them to be the same size.

A giant fist punching downward into the table. It'd be easy to make. Just make a paper mache cast of your fist, cut it off with scissors, reassemble, and you're good to go. Probably would be about the size of a pod too.

With the doors, try to model some sort of foor inprint in the metal, where someone kicked the door from the inside. Like out of one of those Looney Toons cartoons.

I already took a dremmel, and cut out cuts from all the doors that look like someone from the inside chainsworded their way out on impact.

ALSO I am only setting them inside a crater, so I can take them out later to use as rhinos, and since they couldnt figure out how the blood angels super charged their rhinos and such, the angry marines just chopped off all the extra bits they could to make it lighter. For a baal predator, Ill just have 2 marines at each door with heavy bolters, magnatized, and a guy standing on top with 2 assault cannons on his shoulders, magnatized.

What sort of wimpy dreadnought needs a drop pod? just blacken the underside of the dreadnought like it got heated up a bit and maybe give it some beefed up legs to assorb the impact a bit, then you got the craziest angriest dreads in the galaxy.

Beer can drop pod.

Attach fins to the side and cut a door that can be bent open. Or use a beer can foam cover for the drop pods and you can keep your beverage inside while you play.

If your not of drinking age any beverage can be substituted.

This way your dread can really "open up a can/ or case of whooping" on your opponent.

Just cutting off your actual fist would be significantly angrier.

The drop pod at its widest is about 4.25" from one side of the pentagon to the opposite corner. About 6" tall all told.

Surf boards with thermal entry plates on the bottom because there's nothing more bad @ss than surfing down from space while wanging out on a guitar.

Just make a base with a big dreadnought-shaped crater in it Extra kudos if you can actually fit your dreadnought into it during deplotment

Haha, that could be arranged...check out Jones Soda's energy drink section.

They should be fists. The middle finger should be a hatch that opens up, so that when it opens it's giving the finger.

I love both the beercan drop-pod, and the dread jumping from space. The images they create in my head make me laugh.

I like the idea of placing the dread into a pool of plaster of paris.

Easy to clean off once you pry it out once dry, and you'll have a cartoonish impact crater that fits the dread. Deploy it as such, then stand it up out of the hole the next turn.
