Hi dakka.

for my upcoming 750pts all female, anime themed "hentau" (see what I did there...eh...eh...ah forget it) army I need some gundam style animeish robots to mix up with battle suits for, well, battle suits and was hoping that someone could point me in the direction of some animeish robots that are about the same size as battle suits.

Ideally I need one "heavy" design and one "medium" design for my broadsides and normal suits.

there will be a blog about it as soon as I get some female tau heads from zealot miniatures and yes it will include sweet, sweet blue heresy of an immature nature from someone old enough to know better

so, thanks in advance for your help. For the greater anime fan!!!!!!!

If you want anime style ones try gundam 1/200 scale they are probabaly the smallest you can work with. You might be able to get away with using parts mixed with tau battlesuits.

Anime huh? Does that mean you're going to dress up one of the female tau as nun with an inexplicably short dress and oversized handgun or as you standard ridiculous maid costume?

Just kidding , I'm not an anime hater. You might want to try one of the small cheaper Robotech/Macross models. When they're transform to their Battloid mode look fairly Tau-ish.

Instead of using Gundam models (which really are a little too iconic), you might try using Patlabor models. The Gryphon would make for an excellent stealth suit, while the Ingram would make a great base for any of the other suits.

If you do have your heart set on Gundam though, I would recommend the Jegan and it's variants or the Re-GZ from "Char's Counterattack", or the Rick Dias and any of the GM variants from "Zeta Gundam".

There are three other options you might consider. The "Armored Trooper VOTOMS" mecha may fit the bill, especially the ScopeDog. The "MACROSS" Queadluun-Rau battlesuits look very "Tau-ish" to me, and the "Dragonar" mecha (especially Dragonar-2) may work, depending on your tastes.

Good luck!

There's a line of 1/200 scale robotech/macross minis that's long oop that was made specifically for gaming, I think. There's not a whole lot of info out there on them, but here's a batrep I found that shows some of the minis and that you might be able to glean scale from. This might be the best pic for that:

I've seen the minis on ebay a few times before (in the macross modelling section rather than the wargaming section), and they really weren't all that expensive.

I'm curious where you're going to be going with this though.

Actually, this picture have one of the pylons from Battle of MacCragge in it. There's your scale right there.

They are a little smaller but with a little bulking out the mechs from heavy gear could work as well. They look anime ish without being completely over the top like gundam, etc.

This guy could easily stand in for a fireknife with only minimal alterations(making the rifle look like a plasma rifle):
