Right this is the blog for first proper 40K army. Despite playing Warhammer properly in my local Games Workshop for around a year now I've never really got into 40k. This was due to me being a tight git and my stubborness with Warhammer. Now I've decided that seeing as most people there play 40k as opposed to Warhammer that I'd bite the bullet and geta 40k army. So after a long chat witht he staff about anything non green that they don't see very often I took the big leap from Orcdom and choose a Ork army, oh wait crap I see what's happened.

Anyway my reasoning was that I already had the codex and the Nobs are my favourite minatures that GW produce so it did kind of make sense. Anyway with the army choice done I present my blog for my huge (1500pts atm. See the list here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/375587.page. Yer I know it probably wont win anything but hey an entire two wound army with FNP and a whole bucket load of random wargear is fun and measn I can transport both my armies at once.) Ork hoard of 37 models (including grots).

As you can tell I still wanted to make it unique and hey I haven't seen this army played yet so it'll be a learning experience. Anyway onto the pictures. No painitng yet as I'm using my fantasy stuff to develop my skills as due to fielding a small army I can paint each model to the best of my ability. That and I havent finished adding loads of random parts to them yet.

Firstly heres part of the large CC Nob mob. All built from the box atm but I plan on adding bits to them later.

Close up of my favourite model from it.

The Waaagh banner WIP the unit will be gettign eventually (Yes it is a stick on a axe my Nob dosen't like being left out of the killing even if the boss keeps yelling at him for using it as one)

Some scratchbuilt Docs as A. I'm too tight to buy 4 of the doc models and B. I'd like them to look individual

The main squads doc and the only one allowed to carry a banner (this annoys the other docs becasue it makes this one easier to see but hey bosses orders).

And the back of him. The idea is that his hurty syringe is fed by the small canisters (IG grenades) hence why hes covnered in them. He also has a huge chainblade for carefully operating on the Nobz.

The other big squads doc is tonned down a bit coampred to the much richer doc. I'm goign to have all the other docs wear beakie shoulders pads too to help tie them into the same army and makes the bosses doc look unique. As you can see though this one uses a rusty knife to tear open his patients rather than a buzzsaw. (Sorry for the bad image quality will replace it soon)

This oens urty syringe is fed by tube from this tank of god knows what.

Finally a dissasembled and non orkified Warboss. This'll be the first mate guy so wont be as glorius looking as my main guy but will still be modified.

So yer thats all I got so far. Next purcahses are goign to be AOBR (for the Warboss, Nobz and rulebook thoguh will keep the Deffkoptas for whne I expand the army) and some more Nobz boxes.

Hope you like it so far.

protype_X: Cheers its my first time trying extensive conversion work.

Just got some images of two more Ork Nobz, this time some of the cyborks.

First up is Killklaw. This Ork nob used to be Gornak's (my Warboss) personnal banner bearer until he lost his right hand. Now this waasn't too much of a problem as he had a speacial dart puncture thingy attached onto it but the fact that his left hand was a Powerklaw meant that he kept getting carried away in battle and chopping the banner in half. Needless to say the boss wasnt generally to pleased with this and as such sent him off to lead one of the cybork mobz. Of course being that the squad is all Nobz they don't really listen to him much but he likes to think they do and forgets anyway when theres fighting to do. As such hes the least mechanically modified ork in th emob but this doesnt bother him one bit.

Now from the least modified to the most modified. This guy got most of his left arm, face and his entire left leg blown of when a battlecannon shell exploded next to him. Amazingly he still lived and even mamaged to shoot two stormtroopers dead and club one to death with his dismembered leg before the Painboy dragged him away and began talking about prices to fix im up. As such Tin'ead has a mechanical leg, a punchy fist weapon and a metal skull (not that it affected his intellignece at all) which as well as allowing him to fight on give him a rather large pain threshold (though this may also be due to the amount of drugs hes pumped with). As such his killyness hasnt decreased at all and hes been allowed to rejoin the boyz for the good ol scraps.

(Please not some of these models are awaitng mass GS tubage (due to that being about the only thing i can GS) so arnt actually finished yet just where I stand with them atm.)

Hope you enjoy them

I hope you enjoy your start in 40K. I was also a big WHFB player but I added an Ork army so I could play 40K as well. Later I acquired a large IG army to fight the Eye of Terror campaign.

You have some nice models to begin with. When you finally begin playing games, you'll find that a 40K Ork army is more fearsome to opponents than their WHFB cousins. You don't have to worry about animosity, you have open-topped transports that allow rapid assaults, there are Kustom Force Fields, and all types of dead-killy weapons and army builds.

Have fun!

I asked some of the other DCMs that still play Orks regularly to stop by your blog. They can give you better advice than I.

The secret to painting a really big army is to keep at it. You can't reach your destination if you never take any steps.

I build IG...lots and lots of IG.

Always nice to see someone put a lot of effort into every single model! Keep going, if you start caring about how your army does, you're gonna be one of those powerlisters way too early... go for the fun! - and painting

JB: Thanks and cool I look forward to my first few games with them. I love my WFB orcs they ahrdly ever win but they generally fail spectaculary. Cheers for spreading the word.

Gitsplitta: Cheers

kenshin620: Cheers thoguh paint may take a while I hope it'll be worth it when I start.

Araski: Cheers

SnakeByte: Thanks and yer I don't liek powergaming would much rather have a theme or a army that goes for one aspect fully (My WFB for example is based around a all infantary all Orc horde and contains several horde sized units.)

protype_X: Ummm several pieces of cut up spear shaft (I have like 5 boxes worth of old Orc models parts lying around lol) a sapce marine shoudler pad, the claws are the end of the catachans webbing the one with the knife and the canteen and several ork shoudler pads. Also some greenstuff and the circle injection bits of of spruces (seriously they are a awesome source of discs if a bit limiting in size). So ummm yer a bit of everything lol.

Well at the moment guys I'm working on a top secret project for my GF as a present and depending on how it turns out I may be addign a similar style model to my army to give it a more jokey model. So yer may have pics of this later or tomrrow not sure.

MeanGreenStoompa: (sorry you replied while I was typing didn't mean to make it look like I ignored you) Cheers that leg was the result of many hours of hard work, cutti...... nah I'm lying I bodged it together right quick while da boy was asleep. Had to get round to the important stuff like tooth removal you see.

Thanks though I'm glad you like it I was a bit worried how it would look when done but it turned out much better than expected.

Well guys heres what I have of my secret project. Not much but reveals what it is (see I'm a good orky secret keeper.)

Well basically I've spent the last like 4 hours attempting to learn how to sculpt as this is the first time I've tried it properly. Below is some probably rather bad pictures at trying to show this work to you all. Most importantly though is the idea and background for it. So to build supense beacause I all know you dieing of anticipation I'm going to show you all the WIP pics starting with this one.

(yes that is meant to be a base saying Doktork I havent screwed up anything liek usual this time)

Next this one. We seem to be heading in the right direction (yes that was terrible I know)

Feeling a bit chesty? See a doctor (yes ok there not gettign any better I know)

And finally this handy little pic... oh wait maybe not as handy as first thoguht (yes this is the last photo so you don't have to suffer anymore.)

And now the time has coem to reveal this project. I'd like to introduce you all to Doktork Who?. This idea came about from trying to think up a unique idea for my last doctor rather than having him look similar to the rest and from being forced to watch loads of Dr Who by my girlfriend so I decided woudlnt it be funny to have a Ork version of him to lighten the mood a little in my army. Unfourtunately for the model my skills in sculpting are non exsitant but that didnt stop me trying anyways. I also plan on doing another version of him for a present for said girlfriend as otherwise I'd be afraid of turnign up to play to find out the Doktork had appeared to have time travelled somewhere not in my bag!

Now for the fluff as to how he came to be in the army.

Doktork Who joined the boyz in rather spectacular fashion smack bang int he middle of a fight. Materialising in a large blue and red box thingy (red ones go faster) next to the warboss himself. Unfourtunately next to the warboss was also his prized pet mini squig. This turned out to be unfountunate for the squig, the doktork and the box thingy as it proceeded to squash the suprised squig and as the doktork disembarked, the warboss, who had finished witth the beakie he was fighting proceded to squash the box thingy with his powrclaw.

Now on a rather more lucky note for everyone involved (apart from the blue box which was very much scrap at this point) they found the squashed form of the squig and before the warboss could squash the Doktork he produced a small beepy stick and waved it about a bit. Amazingly for everyone watching (at this point the warboss had become distracted by another beakie) the squig retook its baloon shaped form and jumped back onto its masters shoudler very much suprised and alive.

For the warboss this was very confusing. One mintue something was very much dead and another it was very much alive. As generally happens when da boss is confused he hits soemthing. Unfourtunately for the Doktork that was him. Even more unfourtuantely this caused amnessia to set in and when he recovered he found he couldn't remember anythign of what had just happened and was only get small flashbacks of da box thingy. This also affected his use of the beepy stick which proceeded to work really well at times or not at all usually producing some bizzare side affect (he once transplanted a nobz brain into the engine block of a ruined beakie rhino when trying to fix im up whihc although a tlakign rhino is amusing and not soemthing you see (or hear) every day was not very useful. Since then however hes accompanied the boss and his boys attempting to fix them up as best he can in the middle of da scraps with his trusty beepy stick and nothign else asking for nothing in return but that they'd keep a eye out for the box thingy.

Well yer that was that big block of text done with. Hope you all like the fluff anf model so far can't wait to finish up the model and then get the other one doen so I can get soem paint on them.

prototype_X: Hmmm I could do for when I expand but for now I have another use for pieces of the box thingy.

Right another look at a couple of the lads.

First up is Gaurt 'Snippy' Ironlegz. This guy is the first nob in my second cyber nobz squad. Hes not amazingly cybered up but has a few obvious ones. Most obvious is the lack of either hand. The first was replaced on his request with a crab style powerklaw before he became a cyber nob and the second is his grafted slugga. This a due to a plasma gun pretty much melting his hand to the slugga he was holding at the time. By the time he'd come round from passing out due to the injury the battel was over and the melted stump had been replaced with a built in slugga controlled rather amazingly by his thoguhts (EDIT: I've only just come up with this so the pictures dont show the GS tubing coming out of his head I'm about to model). Although the painboy and mek in question had no idea what they'd doen to achieve this Gaurt was pretty happy with the result. What he wasn't too happy with was that they had also decided that his perfectly good legs needed some mechanical assistance and he found he had a rather crude exo skeleton on his legs and a lot less teeth in his mouth. Dam thieving gits.

Next up is another less modified member of the first cyber squad. Meet 'Sawn Off'. Rather simply named it says it all. This nob is all about his custom made shotgun. This drum fed explosive shot gun is his pride and joy and together with his buzzsaw hand has made a mess of most things that have been unfourtunate enough to face him. He is also it seems blessed by Gork (or Mork?) as the amount of bullets that have pinged off his battered helmet and blows deflected by it defies belief. However this luck can't last forever can it?

That's all for now will have more for you soon (gonna get AOBR on sunday so together with todays 3 boxes of Nobz will give me all the models for my army. Just lots more kitbashing.).
