Hey guys, as some of you know, I entered Golden Demon last yearand made it to the Grand Final (Be the way this is in Australia) and I haven't actually put up any photos of it and many of you asked, so now I have photos. I was actually doing a bit of work on it this morning trying to make a blood drop effect on it and than took pictures to put on Facebook (Ask if you want me on it) and than I remembered I gotta show Dakka. And these pictures are in HD. If they dont load I am terribly sorry and they will be in my Gallery!

That's a well painted mini. This in a young bloods category right?
I might think about entering Golden Demon this year.

Some of those picture are horrible but oh well there good enough!

You should make the blood drop shorter it looks funky being that long. Go on youtube and look for DarksunStudios he makes an awesome tutorial to do that kind of effect.

It looks ok but there's a lot of work that could be done, mainly on the skin: it could be highlighted a bit to show depth and tone to it.

Well the picture is really bad (Compared to my photography) so not trying to be mean or big note myself but there is ALOT of skin depth on the skin, One of the staff at the games workshop actually got me to show them how I apinted it so they could paint theres like that!

The model is average at best, I really don't see how it could of got to the finals even if it's in the youngbloods. I have seen far better entries.

You also need to tone down on the lies, makes you look silly.

Um, excuse me, but I dont lie and I wouldn't lie, If you want I can send you a link to my local Games Workshop and they can tell you that it got that far!

FYI there isn't an under 18's medium figure category in golden demon. the categories are the same in every country around the world, and having entered in the UK GD last year, in young bloods, i would know. i also know the quality required, over here at least, to win. the mini i entered took me the best part of four months to paint, incorporated NMM, OSL, and other advanced painting techniques, executed to a high level. it still didn't come close. as far as i can see your model uses none of these techniques, so i am inclined to believe that you are either lying, or entered a painting competition other than GD

either way the OP was lying, he said he got into the grand final. this implies the fight between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. thus implying he won one of those trophies, he did not, and with painting like the job on this mini, he will not

Oh, I can get better pictures, and when I say Grand final i dont mean one of the top 3!

Grand final meaning, the 3 top figures chose from each state (in Australia) all went to Sydney so there was about 21 figures for each catorgory and than the judges decide on the 3 best!

I know you dont and you cant believe me, but I asure you I wasn't lieing, if need be I can take a picutre of a cirtificate i got at the local (1st step) though i didn't get one at states.
I can tell you someone that actually knows about this as I talked to him for years about idea with this and he gave them back. I will gladly do that.
There is an under 18's medium minitures, and i got told it was not young bloods so im going by what i was told by the GW.
I will not tell you to believe me, its your choice but I will tell you what happen and you can believe it!
I personally didn't think it was good enough for GD though than again i dont think some other models are good enough for GD.

It all comes down to you own personal opinion and I really dont want to fight over this, simply if you think im leing, can you not continue posting because its just rude!

Golden Demon : Suhail CHAELA) (under 18's as stated earlier) I believe it is unfair to anounce that you got through to the grand finals as that would equate to placing first, second or third. I believe the correct statement would be along the lines of "I got through to the semi finals at GD Australia"
I have in the past mistakingly attempted to stand up for you on one of your inept, idiotic and uterly annoying threads about a golden deamon entry and needing advice. whereby you started asking for advice and techniques, then ignored what everyone was telling you and generaly changed your mind every five minutes. It is highly annoying habbit and could (or possibly is) considered trolling by many.

Golden Demon or local contest, lying or telling the truth, flopping first round or Grand Finals... who cares? Fe, you know what you did and you know the extent of the truth of your comments. If people don't believe you, fu** 'em. The hatred and disrespect shown here is ugly and over the top, even for me (who has been bant before). If you advanced in a GD contest at all, good for you!


On the topic of your OP, the blood drop doesn't look like blood at all, to be honest. The tail of it is far too long. Blood would stretch before dropping, to be certain. Depending on the state of coagulation before dripping, if woul dbe thicker and take longer to break away and fall to the ground. What you have here is an impossibly long and thin tendril that creates the effect of saliva (drool), some sort of mucous, or some other, less savory fluids. I would a) look at that tutorial posted before and, b) redo this attempt.

I'm inclined to believe this man. This is NOT GD quality. Not even close. Those eyes are so absurdly different from the rest of the model. It looks like you just gave up with it and filled in the whole thing with yellow.

The whole model is washed to hell, and if you hadn't washed it, it would probably look like crap. Sorry man, I just don't believe any of this. There's no way this would even pass for Young bloods, let alone '18 or under' or anything for that matter.

OP: You need to tidy up the skin; more progressive blending etc. The base looks dreadful; needs at least some detail on it and to be drybrushed with a colour other than black. If you're going to leave the horns black, they need to be highlighted in some way. Same with the skulls; they look like they've been quickly based with brown and then forgotten. The bronze metal parts don't look too bad but again could do with some tidying up and highlighting. The blood drip is far too big; looks like he's managed to get a giant necklace stuck on his sword. The flame in his hand is a great opportunity to try out some OSL too!

Go away and do all these things and people might believe you when you say you got beyond the first cut of a GD competition

I think that might be a good idea, just to shut people up

from what I can see the skin looks quite good but I would say that the horns could do with being a bit more of a bone-ish colour rather than brown. as far as the blood drop goes I would try to sculpt on some gore instead like the stuff on the empire captains sword (the one who just cut an orks head off)

Gents, maybe you should tone the rhetoric down just a notch. Whether you believe the OP or not is largely irrelevant in the context of the thread which is about creating/painting a realistic blood drop.
