Hello,

I'm an older mini gamer who is coming back to the hobby after several years absence, and signed up so I could ask questions about how both WHFB and 40k have changed since I last played. Similarly, there may be non-GW minis games that have been released that might interest me, and I plan to read that part of the forum too.

My start in miniatures gaming was 25mm Napoleonics, and I still have my French corps (though the paint job is an embarassment). Moved on to WHFB when it first came out in 1983. Started playing 40k with 3rd ed.

My Fantasy armies are (in order of acquisition) Dark Elves, Undead (pre VC/TK split), Lizardmen, and Brettonians. If one accepts non-GW figures, then I also have a High Elf army made from Ral Partha figures (I liked Tom Meier's sculpts and at the time I was the only WHFB player in the area, so I had to supply both sides).

Only one completed (though not fully painted) 40k army, Blood Angels. Have a Craftworld Ulthwe army box which was going to be my second 40k army, but it's still boxed. If they bring out an updated Craftworld codex I will take a look at it. Curious about Necrons, but never bought any.

Have Necromunda and Lord of the Rings boxed sets. Recommendations for similar skirmish games welcomed.

In non-GW minis games, have a sizable and varied Clan War army (from AEG, set in the Legend of the Five Rings gameworld, basically a fantasy version of Japan). One advantage is that core troops are pretty much the same, so one adds the specialist troops for flavor. Also a number of fighters and gunships for Silent Death, a tactical space combat game. Nice clean combat system in that game. Both games are dead though.

Will also play Eurogames and other board games, and my present entertainment is computer games. What can I say, I like games in general.

Thanks for reading!
