As of today, I've been playing Warhammer 40k for about, oh, five days. Several of my friends managed to entice me with the Inquisition, a concept I just can't get enough of. Since then, I've tried learning the rules to the best of my ability, and even tried my hand at building armies.
Since I travel often, I'm rarely anywhere near my close-knit group of friends, so we are using the Vassal W40k, which means I get to play often without the need to buy models (a benefit, since I'm not sure how into this I'll get...).
I've tried my hand at building and testing two armies. The first was a disaster, a SoB flame-heavy team against Space Marines. The Witch Hunters, along with SoB, were not quite to my liking, despite their amazing models. The second army I built, and am still tweaking, is a Grey Knight team (which will be posted later on for review and help). So far, this team has defeated a basic Necron army (a fairly simple task, from what I've heard), and will be up against Orks and Chaos Space Marines either this weekend or next week.
I'm usually pretty quick at learning rules to games, and coming up with quirky strategies. My main concern, though, is general ettiquette. What is considered rude, what is a common courtesy, etc.

Welcome and I'd say the thing you shouldn't really do is obviously rage at your opponents or as I have had done to me don't pick up people's models/codex's without there approval. As that is what happened to my first stormraven and guess what? That raven doesn't fly anymore :(
